A discharge lamp is disclosed, including a sealed vessel with an inner surface, at least one illuminating gas filled inside the sealed vessel, and a fluorescent layer coated on the inner surface. The composition of the fluorescent layer is adjusted according to a colored light emitted by the illuminating gas during a discharge process within the sealed vessel, such that the colored light is converted into a visible light after passing through the fluorescent layer.

Discharge lamp and production method thereof

A fabrication method for discharge lamps is disclosed, which comprises providing a glass tube of diameter between 2 and 20 mm, the glass tube having an inner wall coated with a fluorescent phosphor and having a through-passage with a first end and a second end, connecting a first dielectric electrode to the first end of the glass tube by applying an adhesive to a contacted portion of the glass tube and the first dielectric electrode, and sintering the contacted portion of the glass tube and the first dielectric electrode to securely connect the glass tube and the first dielectric electrode. Subsequently, processes of filling and sealing are conducted to complete the fabrication of the discharge lamps.

The present invention relates to a plasma display panel with improved Luminance and luminous efficiency. The panel includes barrier ribs configured to form a plurality of closed cells, with each closed cell having a discharge region filled with a xenon gas of at least 15% by volume, and another gas of 85% or less by volume.

An AC plasma display panel of the present invention changes the conventional disposition of three electrodes. Either the scanning electrode or sustaining electrode is disposed in the rib or on the sidewall of the rib. Also, two scanning electrodes both use the same sustaining electrode disposed on the rib. Thus, a high resolution and high precision AC plasma display panel can be obtained.

A plasma display device is disclosed. The plasma display device has a first panel and a second panel parallel to each other. A dielectric layer is formed on the second panel, a plurality of barrier ribs are formed on the dielectric layer, and a plurality of buffer layers are formed opposite to the barrier ribs. The buffer layers have a first softening temperature, the barrier ribs have a second softening temperature, and the first softening temperature is lower than the second softening temperature. The buffer layers can be deformed and compressed at a temperature higher than the first softening temperature during a process for sealing the first and second panels, so as to unify heights of the barrier ribs.

Plasma display device

Disclosed is a high contrast PDP, comprising a glass substrate, shielding masks, patterned black matrices, transparent electrodes, display electrodes, a dielectric layer, an MgO layer. A black matrix layer is formed on the discharge region and the non-discharge region of the glass substrate and defined into shielding matrices and patterned black matrices respectively. Transparent electrodes are formed on the shielding mask, and display electrodes are formed on the transparent electrodes. The dielectric layer and MgO layer are sequentially formed over the whole glass substrate. The black matrix layer can consist of Cr/Cr O , Fe/Fe O or black low melting-point glass. The transparent electrodes can consist of ITO or stannic oxide. The display electrodes can consist of Cr/Cu/Al, Cr/Al/Cr or Ag. The dielectric layer can consist of lead oxide or silicon oxide.

High contrast PDP and a method for making the same

A front plate for a plasma display panel (PDP) and its modified fabricating method are provided using a backside exposure process and an appropriate processing sequence rearrangement to reduce the number of photomasks required and improve the accuracy of exposure and developing process. First, a light-shielding layer is patterned by performing a mesh printing process, or by performing an exposure and developing process using a first photomask, so as to form a light-shielding structure including black stripes and transparent electrodes' gaps. Next, using the light-shielding structure as a mask, a backside exposure and developing process as well as an etching process is performed to form a plurality of pairs of transparent electrodes on the substrate. Then, using a second photomask, another set of exposure, developing and etching processes are performed to form a plurality of pairs of metal electrodes on the corresponding transparent electrodes.

Method of fabricating a front plate for a plasma display panel

A formulation of solid powder, a solvent system, a binder material, and a plasticizing agent is described whose accomplishment is achieved by means of a step-by-step process. The pastes so formulated can be employed in a screen printing process to produce surface layer patterns with various specific physical properties such as phosphorescence, electrical conductivity, mechanical adhesion, and dielectric properties as desired.

A cold cathode emitter structure is described together with two methods for manufacturing it. These methods are cost effective and relatively simple to implement. A key feature is the incorporation of chemical-mechanical polishing into the process. This allows the micro-cones, that serve as cold cathodes, to be easily positioned so that their apexes are located at the correct height relative to the gate lines. A second important feature is that the openings in the gate lines through which the emitted electrons will pass are made to be significantly narrower than in conventional designs.

Method for manufacturing cold cathode arrays

This invention provides a method of fabrication and structure for spacers between the anode substrate and the cathode substrate of a field emission display. The spacers have a high aspect ratio and which will be invisible to the human eye in the display image. An adhesive dielectric paste of glass frit in a binder is formed in cylindrical holes in a photoresist layer. Glass spacer spheres are placed on each column of dielectric paste. When fired the glass frit coalesces into a solid glass rod and bonds the glass spacer sphere to one end of the solid glass rod and the anode substrate to the other end of the solid glass rod. The firing also burns away the photoresist layer. The dark area in the image due to the spacers is less than 50 micrometers which will be invisible to the human eye.

Invisible spacers for field emission displays

A high luminescence display, and methods for making such a display, are described. A faceplate for a display device having a glass face is provided, having phosphor elements on the glass face. There are reflective elements, on the glass face and adjacent to the phosphor elements, with surfaces angled toward the phosphor elements, whereby light emitted from the phosphor elements reflects off the reflective elements and travels through the glass face. The reflective elements may be formed of, for example, aluminum, and be directly adjacent to the phosphor, or offset from it.

High luminescence display

For the manufacture of a color screen for a cathode ray tube a process is described which uses a single photolithographic mask for defining multiple patterns, so that said single mask may be used for determining the different areas where several different phosphor layers will be located. Masks used for conventional photolithographic processes normally comprise a pattern of regions that are either fully transparent or fully opaque to the radiation used for exposing the resist. The mask used as part of the present invention includes regions that are neither fully transparent nor fully opaque, having, instead, a grey scale of optical densities. Through careful control of both exposure and development time, selected parts of a layer of a positive photoresist, that were exposed through successively denser regions of the mask, can be successively removed. As each of these parts of the resist is removed, parts of an underlying layer of adhesive are uncovered and then serve as selective sites for the application of phosphor particles. The process may be used with or without the inclusion of a black matrix as part of the structure.
