An under-floor catalyst () includes a GPF () capable of trapping fine exhaust particles in exhaust gas, and a downstream-side catalyst () positioned on the downstream side of GPF (). GPF () can be supplied with secondary air. When an internal combustion engine () is stopped during travel, the secondary air is supplied to GPF () in which the fine exhaust particles are accumulated. At this time, the temperature of GPF () is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature. Thus, a deterioration in the exhaust gas purification performance of under-floor catalyst () at the time of the start of internal combustion engine () can be suppressed.

Vehicle control method and vehicle control device

An internal combustion engine () has an electric heating catalyst () in an exhaust passage (). When it is detected that a door has been opened, the electric heating catalyst () is preheated. If power of an engine controller () is lost during the preheating, information on an estimated temperature, which is stored in the engine controller (), is lost. The engine controller () forbids energization of the electric heating catalyst () until a cooling period necessary for temperature of the electric heating catalyst () to fall elapses after recovery of the power of the engine controller (). After the cooling period elapses, the preheating is started again.

A control device for a diesel engine includes a variable geometry supercharger with a variable supercharge pressure mechanism and an EGR valve configured to adjust an EGR gas amount. In the control device, when the diesel engine is determined to be accelerating, a maximum exhaust pressure is set such that an increased amount of an engine torque by increasing a fuel injection amount in association with acceleration is greater than an increased amount of pumping loss increased with increasing exhaust pressure due to an actuation of the variable supercharge pressure mechanism in association with acceleration. A target control variable for the variable supercharge pressure mechanism and a target control variable for the EGR valve are controlled on the basis of the maximum exhaust pressure.

A particulate accumulation amount estimating system is configured to accurately estimate an amount of particulate matter accumulated in a particulate filter based on the pressure difference across the particulate filter even when ash is accumulated in the particulate filter. The particulate accumulation amount estimating system is configured to estimate a particulate accumulation amount of particulate matter accumulated in the particulate filter based on a pressure difference that was detected across the particulate filter and an effective area change of the particulate filter that was detected due to the accumulation of ash in the particulate filter. The estimate of the particulate accumulation amount based on the pressure difference across the filter will be lower as the estimate value of the ash accumulation amount becomes larger.

This is a method for regenerating the NOx catalyst in a NOx purifying system provided in the exhaust passage with a direct reduction type NOx catalyst which directly decomposes the NOx during lean-condition operation and is regenerated at rich-condition operation, and the method prohibiting the rich-condition control when the temperature detected by a catalyst temperature detecting means is within the predetermined temperature range. Thus, when the exhaust gas are temporarily made rich-condition for catalyst regeneration which means recovering the NOx purifying ability of the direct reduction type NOx catalyst arranged in the exhaust passage of the engine, the NOx is prohibited from being discharged into the atmospheric air, and also the purifying ability can surely be recovered.

NOx catalyst regeneration method for NOx purifying system and NOx purifying system

A diesel engine oil dilution managing device is configured to act as an oil dilution detecting device to determine if a premature combustion occurred before fuel injection by an injector based on an engine parameter that correlates with an occurrence of the premature combustion, such as an amount of time required for the crankshaft to rotate per unit crank angle or a rotational speed change rate of the crankshaft. Moreover, the diesel engine oil dilution managing device can have an engine output control section that is configured to suppress the production of output power by the engine when it is determined that the premature combustion occurred before the fuel injection by, for example, driving a throttle valve in a close direction.

Adequate controllability is ensured when feedback control is provided to both the EGR valve and the intake throttle valve, and switching shock is prevented when control is switched from one to the other. The present apparatus comprises an EGR valve, an intake throttle valve, feedback control means for providing feedback control to the EGR valve and intake throttle valve such that the actual EGR volume approximates the target EGR volume corresponding to the running condition of the engine, and limiting means for limiting the operable opening ranges of the EGR valve and intake throttle valve in accordance with the target EGR volume. The actual operations are merely limited, so these operations can start from the optimal opening and the switching shock can be prevented when a switch is made to the control of the other valve.
