An Interconnection integrated MHD pump is used in a liquid metal cooling system to provide a pump to the liquid metal by induced magnetic field and may be connected to main electrical systems of the cooling system for providing the magnetic field. The liquid metal cooling system includes an MHD pump, cooling pad, a radiator, and a fluidic channel. The MHD pump comprises a magnet on at least one side of one of the fluidic channel.

Utilization of interconnections in electronic circuits as magnetohydrodynamic pumps for liquid metal based cooling

A low inductance power module with low power loop inductance and high-power density is provided. The power module may include a vertical power loop structure, a cooling layer, and a thermal dissipation structure. The vertical power loop structure may utilize a substrate bottom conduction layer for electrical conduction. The thermal dissipation structure may be disposed between the substrate bottom conduction layer and the cooling layer. The vertical power loop structure may include integrated decoupling capacitors. Alternatively, the structure may include no integrated decoupling capacitors. The vertical power loop structure may include one or more half-bridge structures connected in parallel, each with its own integrated decoupling capacitors. The vertical power loop structure reduces power loop inductance in the power module, and the thermal dissipation structure provides electrical insulation, mechanical support, and thermal conduction.

A T-breaker is an all-in-one solution for dc microgrid fault protection, power flow control, and power quality improvement. A T-breaker features a modular multilevel 'T' structure with integrated energy storage devices. The two horizontal arms of the T-breaker realize fault current breaking, load voltage compensation, and power flow control; and the vertical arm of the T-breaker realizes shunt compensation. The configuration provides excellent voltage scalability and relaxes the requirements on the switching signal synchronization during fault transients. The local energy storage in sub-modules eases the fault energy dissipation requirement placed on the traditionally-adopted surge arrestors. The modular multilevel structure also offers immense control flexibility for all types of targeted functions of the provided T-breaker.

A power system includes a traction battery, and a rectifier including a pair of diodes, a pair of switches, and a pair of capacitors each in parallel with a different one of the switches such that alternating current input to the rectifier results in alternating voltage having parabolic approaches to maximum magnitude values being input to the rectifier. The maximum magnitude values correspond to a magnitude of voltage output to the traction battery.

An example vehicle includes a high voltage electronic system comprising a current sensor configured to capture current data and a processor. The processor is configured to generate filtered data by applying a filter to the current data, determine a Hurst exponent based on the filtered data, and responsive to determining a threshold change in the Hurst exponent, detect the presence of a DC arc in the high voltage electronic system.

The present invention relates to a driver system that can include an optical power based isolated power supply. The driver system can include an optical receiver that can be in communication with an optical transmitter to receive an optical signal. The optical receiver can be configured to convert the optical signal to a drive signal having a determined drive strength. The driver system can further include a driving circuit that can be configured to drive an input of the transistor device based on the drive signal according to a control signal defining an on-time and off-time for the driving circuit over a time interval. In some examples, the driver system can be integrated with a protection system.

A system and method is provided for balancing a storage battery for an automotive vehicle. The battery is of the type including a plurality of storage cells. The system includes a thermoelectric device and a controller. The thermoelectric device receives thermal energy and converts the thermal energy into electric energy. The controller determines a subset of the storage cells in the battery to be charged based on an amount of electric charge in each of the storage cells. Furthermore, the controller causes the electric energy to be distributed to each storage cell in the subset in an effort to balance the battery in the vehicle.
