A backlight assembly includes a light guide plate (LGP) having a stepped portion formed at a corner of the LGP, an optical sheet disposed over the LGP and a receiving container receiving the LGP and the optical sheet. The receiving container includes a bottom plate, first through fourth sidewalls and a first LGP fixing portion. The second sidewall is adjacent to the first sidewall. The third sidewall faces the first sidewall. The fourth sidewall faces the second sidewall. The first through fourth sidewalls are extended upwardly from edge portions of the bottom plate. The first LGP fixing portion is formed at the first sidewall such that the LGP fixing portion corresponds to the stepped portion of the LGP. Therefore, a display device is easily assembled. Furthermore, a defilement that may occur during an assembling process may be reduced to enhance productivity.

Backlight assembly and display device having the same

A backlight unit includes a substrate, a plurality of first light sources, a plurality of second light sources, a first wiring portion, a second wiring portion, a first connector and a second connector. The first light sources are disposed on the substrate. The second light sources are disposed on the substrate in a single line. The first wiring portion extends along a length direction on a first peripheral area of the substrate and is connected to the first light sources. The second wiring portion extends along the length direction on a second peripheral area of the substrate and is connected to the second light sources. The first connector is disposed on a first end portion of the substrate and is electrically connected to the first wiring portion. The second connector is disposed on a second end portion of the substrate and is electrically connected to the second wiring portion.

Backlight unit and display device having the same

A display device comprises: a display panel including a first insulating substrate and a second insulating substrate that is arranged so as to deviate from the first insulating substrate; and an intermediate frame, wherein the intermediate frame includes: side walls that are arranged so as to correspond to four side surface of the display panel; a mounting portion which protrudes from the side walls inward and on which the first insulating substrate is mounted; and a supporting protrusion that protrudes from the mounting portion to the second insulating substrate and is arranged below the second insulating substrate and on the side of the first insulating substrate.

Display panel and display device including the same

A liquid crystal display and a fabricating method thereof are provided. The liquid crystal display includes a light guide plate (LGP) guiding light, a light source that is disposed at one side of the LGP, a bottom receiving container including a bottom plate disposed below the LGP and the light source and a cover that covers the light source and is integrally formed with the bottom surface, a reflective sheet member laminated inside the cover facing the light source, a reflective sheet positioned on the bottom plate, a liquid crystal panel receiving the light from the light source and displaying an image, and a top receiving container including a top plate having a window to expose the liquid crystal panel outside, and a first sidewall portion extending along the boundary of the top plate.

Liquid crystal display and fabricating method thereof

Provided are a backlight assembly and a display device having the same. The backlight assembly comprises an elongated first high voltage lamp extending in a first direction and having respective first and second ends. A second similar lamp is provided so as to be separated at its ends from the corresponding first and second ends of the first lamp by a first gap distance (d) and to extend substantially, but not fully parallel to the first lamp. An intermediated gap fixing part is provided for fixing at an intermediate position along the lengths of the first and second lamps a second separation gap distance (d) that is smaller than the first gap distance. As a result of the positioning of the smaller second gap, if it happens at all; electrical interaction noise and/or corona discharge between the high voltage lamps is encouraged to occur at the position of this smaller second gap distance (d) rather than at the terminal ends of the lamps whereat the lamps couple via power conductors to other parts of the display system.

A display device includes a panel assembly on which an image is formed, a cover member which comprises a front portion having a display window exposing at least a portion of a front side of the panel assembly and a side portion which is bent from the front portion, the cover member having one or more joining regions where a pair of end portions engage with and are joined to each other, the cover member comprising a first joining part and a second joining part which are formed at the pair of end portions, respectively, wherein at least one of the first joining part and the second joining part include a region stepped from a surface of the cover member, and at least a portion of the first joining part and the second joining part overlap each other, and an accommodating member which accommodates the panel assembly and is joined to the cover member.

Display device and case for the same

A backlight assembly includes a receiving container, a light-generating unit and a reflective sheet. The receiving container includes a bottom plate and a sidewall. The sidewall extends upwardly from an edge portion of the bottom plate to form a receiving space. The light-generating unit includes a light-emitting substrate disposed in the receiving space, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and a driving circuit. The light-emitting substrate includes a light-emitting region and a peripheral region. The LEDs are disposed in the light-emitting region. The driving circuit disposed in the peripheral region controls the LEDs. The reflective sheet includes a center portion and a cover portion. The center portion is disposed on the light-emitting region. The cover portion is disposed on the peripheral region to cover the driving circuit.

A backlight assembly includes a lamp assembly, a receiving container and a panel guiding frame. The lamp assembly includes a light source to generate light and a lamp cover to reflect the light. The receiving container includes a bottom and a sidewall. The sidewall includes a first sidewall portion facing the lamp cover and separated from the lamp cover by a first interval and a second sidewall portion separated from the lamp cover by a second interval narrower than the first interval. The panel guiding frame includes a first frame portion facing an end of the bottom and a second frame portion extended from the first frame portion along a side face of the second sidewall and having an opening corresponding to the first sidewall portion. Thus, the backlight assembly may have a reduced non-effective display area.

Backlight assembly and display apparatus having the same

In a backlight assembly and a display device having the same, a receiving container includes a bottom plate and sidewalls adjacent to the edges of the bottom plate. A molded frame includes a first plate surrounding the sidewalls and a second plate connected to a side of the first plate. A second plate is substantially parallel with the bottom plate. A lamp assembly includes a lamp cover received in the receiving container and a lamp received in the lamp cover. An optical module is interposed between the molded frame and the receiving container to improve optical characteristics of a light generated from the lamp. A fixing member is combined with fixing portions of the receiving container, the molded frame and the lamp assembly to fix the receiving container, the lamp cover and the molded frame to one another. As a result, the manufacturing process can be simplified and mechanical strength improved.

A backlight assembly includes a light source, a light guide plate, and a receiving container having a combination guide part. The coupling guide part is inwardly protruded with respect to the sidewalls of the receiving container. The coupling guide part corresponds with a guide recess on the light guide plate to guide the light guide plate to a proper position. The coupling guide part may also include a screw thread to couple the receiving container with an external case. Therefore, the receiving container may be easily coupled with the external case and the light guide plate may be guided to a proper position via the combination guide part to thereby simplify a manufacturing process of the backlight assembly and reduce its size.

A display device includes a display panel; a backlight unit disposed behind the display panel; a panel supporting part; and a first cover. The first cover includes a first cover part disposed along a non-display region of the display panel. The display device further includes a plurality of second cover parts extending downward from the first cover part. The panel supporting part includes a first supporting part disposed between the display panel and the backlight unit. The first supporting part supports the display panel. The panel supporting part also includes a plurality of second supporting parts extending upward from an edge portion of the first supporting part. The second supporting part is disposed alternately with the second cover parts. The second cover parts and the second supporting part face the lateral side of the display panel.
