An image capturing apparatus includes an image capturing element which outputs a captured image signal including pixels, a magnification setting unit which sets an electronic zoom magnification, a mode setting unit which sets one of reading modes which vary in a number of the pixels included in the captured image signal according to the electronic zoom magnification, an electronic zoom unit which performs an electronic zoom process on the captured image signal based on the electronic zoom magnification, and an image quality adjuster which performs an image quality adjustment on the captured image signal based on the electronic zoom magnification.

A video camera apparatus with an image-projecting function comprises a recording/reproduction device for recording an image picked up by a pickup lens and an image pickup element on a recording medium, such as a magnetic tape, and reproduces the recorded image from the recording medium. This apparatus is also equipped with a liquid crystal display panel for displaying the image reproduced by the recording/reproduction device or the picked-up image. When light from a light source is irradiated on the liquid crystal display panel, the image thereon can be projected, enlarged by a projection lens. The pickup lens may also serve as the projection lens.

A still-image information recording/reproducing apparatus records a plurality of still-image information on a recording medium, e.g., a floppy disk, and reproduces such still-image information which has been recorded on the floppy disk. In the normal mode, each of the still images is reproduced. In the index mode, all of the still images recorded on the floppy disk are reproduced as a single still image. In particular, the still-image information recording/reproducing apparatus reproduces each of the still images read from the floppy disk during the index mode, and synthesizes all of the reduced still images with each other, so that a single still image can be produced and output therefrom.

An electronic game apparatus has a handicap data memory for storing a plurality of types of handicap data corresponding to piece positions and the number of extra pieces displayed on a display unit, and a game level designation data memory for specifying a game level in accordance with the skill of the challenger. The game level is determined by a move guessing number, representing the number of further challenger moves that the computer can guess, and by the handicap data. When a game level is selected, the corresponding handicap data is read out from the handicap data memory to display the handicap data on a display unit under the control of a control section.
