Provided are a plasma generation apparatus and a plasma generation method. The plasma generation apparatus includes a chamber including a dielectric window and a toroidal discharge space, a magnetic core disposed to surround a portion of the chamber, an induction coil disposed to wind the magnetic core, and a waveguide radiating a microwave through the dielectric window. Alternating current flowing in the induction coil forms a magnetic flux at the magnetic core, and the magnetic flux generates inductively-coupled plasma. A microwave propagating along the waveguide generates microwave plasma inside the chamber.

Plasma generation apparatus and plasma generation method

Provided is a microwave plasma discharge lamp apparatus which includes a rectangular waveguide having a rectangular shape one end of which is closed and the other end is open and receiving a microwave through an opening to put out linearly polarized microwaves; a discharge lamp; a resonator cavity, formed in a cylindrical shape, one end of which is open, which is disposed to surround the discharge lamp, and which is made of a conductive mesh, thereby allowing the passage of the light from the discharge lamp; and a phase shifter, which has a cross-shaped waveguide opened in a propagation direction of the linearly polarized microwaves, is disposed between the other end of the rectangular waveguide and one end of the resonator cavity, and receives the linearly polarized microwaves from the rectangular waveguide to generate elliptically polarized microwaves in the cylindrical resonator cavity. The elliptically polarized microwaves discharge the discharge lamp.

Microwave plasma lamp with rotating field

A non-rotating electrodeless high-intensity discharge lamp system using circularly polarized microwaves. The lamp system has a first rectangular waveguide to propagate linearly polarized microwaves generated from a microwave source; an input circular waveguide linearly connected to the first rectangular waveguide; a second rectangular waveguide closed at an end thereof, and perpendicularly connected to a circumferential surface of the input circular waveguide; an elliptical waveguide linearly connected to the input circular waveguide such that the major axis of the elliptical waveguide is rotated to a predetermined angle relative to a horizontal surface of the input rectangular waveguide; a second circular waveguide linearly connected to the elliptical waveguide; and a discharge lamp housed in a mesh cover, and supported by the second circular waveguide while being held on a reflecting mirror.
