A video processor includes: an image processing section including a front image enhancement processing section configured to perform first enhancement processing on a front image acquired from a front area in a subject by using an endoscope including an insertion portion which is inserted into the subject, and a side image enhancement processing section configured to perform second enhancement processing on a side image acquired from a side area located lateral to the front area by using the endoscope; and a control section configured to individually set an enhancement level of enhancement processing performed by the front image enhancement processing section and an enhancement level of enhancement processing performed by the side image enhancement processing section.

An endoscope of the invention includes: an insertion portion; a distal end portion; a pair of first observation image acquiring sections; a second observation image acquiring section; a pair of nozzles, each of which includes a spouting port for spouting fluid toward each of the pair of first observation image acquiring sections; a pair of first protruding portions, each of which is located close to the front surface of the distal end portion and has a maximum dimension in the radial direction larger than a dimension in the radial direction of each of the nozzles, and a pair of second protruding portions, each of which is located farther from the front surface of the distal end portion and has a maximum dimension in the radial direction larger than the dimension in the radial direction of each of the nozzles.

The rear end side of treatment equipment-side duct which enables treatment equipment provided within an insertion unit to be inserted, and which also serves as a suction duct, is disposed generally in parallel with the tip side of a suction-side duct extending forward from a universal cable side so as to be an opening end, and both opening ends are detachably attached with a filter unit in which a forceps plug portion serving as a suction duct opening, and a filter portion for retrieving (storing) tissue by suction are provided, and a suction switchover valve for performing a suction switchover operation is provided at the backward side thereof, thereby enabling retrieval of tissue without influence of the periphery of the suction switchover valve. Thus, defects due to a long duct can be eliminated, and tissue can be retrieved without influence of the periphery of the suction switchover valve.

Endoscope with built-in filtering means

An endoscope of an endoscope system includes a channel of which a distal end forms a distal opening at a distal end of an insertion portion, of which a proximal end forms a proximal opening at an operating portion, and used for at least suction, and a suction duct of which a distal end forms a suction opening at the operating portion and of which a proximal end is connected to a suction device. An endoscopic accessory includes a capture portion to be connected to an accessory insertion portion and detachably attached to the operating portion of the endoscope, and the capture portion includes a communication path to communicate the proximal opening with the suction opening when the capture portion is attached to the endoscope, and a capture unit interposed in the communication path and to capture the tissue being sucked from the channel into the suction duct.

An adapter for an endoscope of the present invention includes: a locking device for attaching and detaching that attaches and locks this adapter for an endoscope onto a predefined position on an endoscope control part; and a first treatment tool locking device that keeps a treatment tool at a first predefined position. Furthermore, at the first predefined position, a guidewire entry aperture of the treatment tool and an entry aperture of a forceps plug are separated in such a way as to face each other along substantially the same line.
