A tool travel path creating method for a numerical control device comprises the steps of reading G-code program; determining whether or not any correction command is included in the read G-code program; determining whether or not the interior angle between a first vector, being a line segment from a start point of correction to a work starting point, and a second vector, being a line segment from the work starting point to an work ending point, is acute when a correction command is included in the read G-code program, and then creating a tool travel path to be corrected in accordance with the following steps: calculating and storing data for a third vector starting from the work starting point and with a direction perpendicular to the first vector and the same length as the radius of the tool; calculating and storing data for a fourth vector starting from the work starting point and formed by adding the second vector to an intermediary vector with the same direction as the second vector and the same length as the radius of the tool; a fifth vector starting from the work starting point and with a direction perpendicular to the second vector and the same length as the radius of the tool; and, calculating and storing data for a sixth vector starting from the work starting point and with the same direction as the first vector and a length of 2.sup.1/2 times the radius of the tool.

An acceleration and deceleration method with steps that calculate transferring distance, average transferring speed in the x-direction and y-direction, intermediate destination position at every sampling time and the number of sampling times based on final destination position, initial current position and rectilinearly transferring speed; a step of determining initial position; and steps which calculate position pattern and destination position with linear equations, detect intermediate current position with linear equations, sequentially calculate position deviation and transferring speed per sampling time, so that the next step outputs a driving signal for a servo motor. Therefore, an object is transferred in exponential acceleration and deceleration according to linear equations describing rectilinearly transfer speed, and transferring distance in x-direction and y-direction.

A position control apparatus and method for controlling a servo motor includes a D/A unit which converts speed command to analog signals, an up/down counter which increases and decreases pulse of encoder based on the rotating direction of a servo motor in either the x or y directions, and a timer periodically generating interrupt signal to a microprocessor. The position control apparatus and method that can control a servo motor by calculating simple linear equation without calculating complicated exponential function if the maximum speed of the servo motor and time required for the servo motor to reach its destination position is furnished to the control system.
