A vehicle control device includes a spring mechanism configured to connect a sprung member and an unsprung member of a vehicle, generate a spring force according to a relative displacement between the sprung member and the unsprung member, and be able to variably control the spring force, and a damping mechanism configured to connect the sprung member and the unsprung member, generate a damping force for damping a relative motion between the sprung member and the unsprung member, and be able to variably control the damping force, wherein the spring mechanism and the damping mechanism are controlled based on a first physical quantity relating to a sprung vibration of the vehicle and a second physical quantity relating to an unsprung vibration of the vehicle.

Vehicle control device

Disclosed is a damping force control device for a vehicle that controls the damping coefficient of a damping force generation device on the basis of a final target control amount that is based on the target control amount for attitude control, which suppresses changes in the vehicle body attitude in at least the rolling direction, and the target control amount for riding comfort control, which increases riding comfort with regards to vehicle body vibrations in at least the rolling direction. The target control amount for riding comfort control is a control amount calculated as the total of a fixed basic control amount and a variable control amount. The target control amount and the variable control amount for attitude control are calculated, a post-correction basic control amount, which is nearer to the target control amount for attitude control than the basic control amount, is calculated, and the total of the post-correction basic control amount and the variable control amount is set as the final target control amount, thereby excellently achieving both the suppression of attitude changes and an increase in riding comfort.

Damping force control device for vehicle

The damping force of a damping force generation apparatus is controlled by operating an actuator on the basis of a control input u calculated by a state feedback controller K designed such that an Lgain of a closed loop control system S which includes a generalized plant G designed by making use of a delay-approximated model M and the state feedback controller K therefor becomes less than a previously set positive constant &#x3b3;. The delay-approximated model M is designed such that a delay element R representing operation delay of the actuator and a delay compensation element R* cancelling out the delay act on a mechanical motion model of the damping force generation apparatus. The delay-approximated model M is a bilinear system, and is designed to approximate a delay-considered model which is a control model designed on the basis of the mechanical motion model of the damping force generation apparatus and in consideration of the delay.

Damping force controller

A body-roll restraining system with high utility equipped with active stabilizer devices on a front-wheel side and a rear-wheel side of the vehicle and configured to generate roll restraining forces whose directions are opposite to each other, and maybe configured such that the roll restraining forces are changeable owing to an operation of an actuator, The system having a road-surface-unevenness-dependent-roll restraining control. The above-indicated road-surface-unevenness-dependent-roll restraining control is executable in addition to a control which was conducted in conventional stabilizer devices to restrain the roll that arises from turning of the vehicle, and thus the ride comfort of the vehicle is enhanced.
