A binder composition is provided including a copolymer binder and a hydrophobically modified alkali soluble emulsion polymer. The binder composition is useful as a component of paper coating compositions. As provided is a coating process including the paper coating composition and a paper substrate coated with a paper coating including the binder composition.

Binder composition

A foamed gypsum composition is provided. The composition may be used in making a crosslinked, foamed gypsum product. The composition is comprised of gypsum, foaming agents, epoxy resin, and a hardener. Optional ingredients would include one or more additives selected from the group consisting of inert fillers, aggregates, clay, sand, fibers, pigments, dyes, polymeric cement binder, plasticizers, superplasticizers, mineral wool, scrim, and freeze-prevent additives. Objects made from the composition include boards, interior walls, ceiling tiles, acoustical tiles, acoustical panels, roof decking, and flooring.

Foamed gypsum compositions

An aqueous leather coating composition containing a multi-stage emulsion polymer having a stage of Tg<10&deg; C. which contains a copolymerized carboxylic acid and which has been contacted with a divalent metal oxide, hydroxide, or carbonate and a polymer stage of Tg>20&deg; C. which has been prepared in the presence of 1% to 15% by weight based on the weight of that stage of chain transfer agent is provided. Also, provided is a method for coating leather with the composition of this invention.
