A nozzle is arranged to provide coolant fluid to a cutting edge of a metal cutting tool. The nozzle includes at least one internal inlet coolant channel and at least one internal outlet coolant channel. The internal inlet coolant channel is connected to a coolant inlet and the at internal outlet coolant channel is connected to a coolant outlet for directing the coolant fluid to the cutting edge. The nozzle further includes a plenum chamber having at least one inlet opening connecting the internal inlet coolant channel and the plenum chamber and at least one outlet opening connecting the internal outlet channel and the plenum chamber. Each of the inlet openings have a cross-sectional area A1and each of the outlet openings have a cross-sectional area A2, wherein—ΣA1>ΣA2, where i is an integer, n is the number of inlet openings, and m is the number of outlet openings.

A cutting insert for a cutting tool includes a body having a cutting edge, a rake face, and micro channels provided on the rake face adjacent the cutting edge. The micro channels define a grid pattern of micro channels that intersect each other in a region of the rake face where contact between a chip and the rake face is assumed to occur during cutting with the cutting insert.

The present disclosure relates to a tool having a holder body, a cutting insert and a nozzle. The nozzle includes a single through hole for a fastening member. The nozzle has a forward end, a rear end and a bottom face. The through hole extends between the bottom face and an opposite top face. At least one internal coolant channel is provided in the nozzle and extends from a first opening to a second opening. The first opening connects to a coolant supply conduit in the holder body. The second opening serves as an exit for the coolant at the forward end. The at least one coolant channel and the first opening are spaced from the through hole.

A tool having a toolholder and a cutting insert disposed in the pocket of the toolholder. The cutting insert includes a hole having a cutting insert clamping surface that is contacted by the clamp clamping surface. The clamp clamping surface and the cutting insert clamping surface are formed, such that as a clamp bottom surface is moved toward a bottom surface of the pocket, when a post is in a post hole and a fastener is in a clamp hole and a toolholder hole, the cutting insert is urged against the bottom surface and a rear wall. A coupling and a blade for a cooling system in a cutting tool includes a first member including a shank having a first end and a second end. The first end of the shank defines a first end of the first member, and a head of the first member disposed at the second end of the shank and a top of the head of the first member defines a second end of the first member. The head of the first member is frustoconical and the first member includes a longitudinal passage in the shank. A radial opening in the head of the first member is in fluid communication with the longitudinal passage.
