The present invention discloses a polyol resin composition containing a polyether polyol blend, a polyester polyol, and a hydrocarbon blowing agent. The polyether polyol blend has at least a diamine initiated polyol, a propylene oxide polyol, and a polyethylene terephthalate initiated polyol having a functionality of from 2.3 to 3.0. The polyester polyol is preferably a phthalic anhydride initiated polyester polyol. The blowing agent is a C -C hydrocarbon. Also disclosed is a method of producing a polyurethane foam combining the above mentioned polyol resin and an isocyanate component.

Polyol composition containing a hydrocarbon blowing agent

A polyester polyol composition comprising a phthalic anhydride-initiated polyester polyol, a C -C hydrocarbon blowing agent, and an oxyethylated fatty acid or fatty alcohol compatibilizing agent having an HLB of from about 7 to about 12. The blowing agent is soluble in the polyol composition, thereby reducing the risks associated with such blowing agents in processes for making rigid polymer foam articles and providing rigid foams having good dimensional stability and improved insulation properties.

Stable polyester polyol composition

A polyester polyol composition comprising a phthalic anhydride-initiated polyester polyol, a C -C hydrocarbon blowing agent, and an alkylene oxide modified silicone glycol compatibilizing agent having an HLB of from about 5 to about 8 is disclosed. The blowing agent is soluble in the polyol composition, thereby reducing the risks associated with such blowing agents in processes for making rigid polymer foam articles and providing rigid foams having good dimensional stability and improved insulation properties. An alkylene oxide and isocyanate modified silicone glycol compatibilizing agent is also disclosed.

Alkylene oxide modified silicone glycol compatibilizing agents for stable polyester polyol compositions

A polyester polyol composition comprising a phthalic anhydride-initiated polyester polyol, a C,-C,hydrocarbon blowing agent, and an alkylene oxide modified silicone glycol compatibilizing agent having an HLB of from about 5 to about 8 is disclosed. The blowing agent is soluble in the polyol composition, thereby reducing the risks associated with such blowing agents in processes for making rigid polymer foam articles and providing rigid foams having good dimensional stability and improved insulation properties. An alkylene oxide and isocyanate modified silicone glycol compatibilizing agent is also disclosed.

A process for producing a rigid foam based on isocyanate comprises reacting an organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanate with a polyol composition and, optionally, a relatively low molecular weight chain extender or crosslinker in the presence of a catalyst, and, optionally, further auxiliaries and/or additives, wherein the polyol composition comprises a phthalic anhydride-initiated polyester polyol, a blowing agent comprising C,-C,hydrocarbon, and a fatty acid or fatty alcohol ethoxylate compatibilizing agent. The blowing agent is soluble in the polyol composition, thereby reducing the risks associated with such blowing agents in processes for making rigid polymer foam articles and providing rigid foams having good dimensional stability and improved insulation properties.

Process for making isocyanate-based rigid foam

An isocyanate-based rigid foam comprising the reaction product of an organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanate, a resin blend and, optionally, a relatively low molecular weight chain extender or crosslinker in the presence of a catalyst, and, optionally, further auxiliaries and/or additives, wherein the resin blend comprises a phthalic anhydride-initiated polyester polyol, a blowing agent comprising a C,-C,hydrocarbon, and a fatty acid or fatty alcohol ethoxylate compatibilizing agent. The blowing agent is soluble in the polyol composition, thereby reducing the risks associated with such blowing agents in processes for making rigid polymer foam articles and providing rigid foams having good dimensional stability and improved insulation properties.

Isocyanate-based rigid foam

There is now provided a polyol composition containing a polyol having polyester linkages, an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic C.sub.4 -C.sub.7 hydrocarbon blowing agent, and a polyoxyalkylene polyether monool initiated with a C.sub.8 -C.sub.24 fatty hydrocarbon having one alkylene oxide active hydrogen atom. We have found that the monool emulsifies the C.sub.4 -C.sub.7 blowing agent in the compound having polyester linkages, to form an emulsified polyol composition, after which an organic aromatic isocyanate may be reacted with the emulsified polyol composition to form a closed cell polyurethane foam. The polyol composition is used to make rigid closed cell polyisocyanate based foams which are dimensionally stable, and have good insulation values and flame retardance. Combining the monool with the polyester based polyol produces a foam having a density lower than that of a reference foam made with the same ingredients and amounts except in the absence of the monool. Whether the monool is merely mixed with the polyol or used to form an emulsion with the hydrocarbon blowing agent and the polyol, the foam density may be lowered when the monool is used.

Polyoxyalkylene polyether monool polyurethane foam additive

Mixtures of medium viscosity polymeric MDI and HCFC-22 have unexpectedly low vapor pressure, rendering such mixtures suitable for the preparation of polyurethane and polyisocyanate foams.

Blowing agent-containing polymeric MDI compositions

The invention relates to urethane polymers exhibiting excellent heat transfer properties. Specifically these polymers are used as adhesives for the purpose of adhering cooling/condensing tubes to metal panels for the manufacture of freezer and refrigerator cabinets.
