A steel member () having wear and corrosion resistance through a combination of coatings is disclosed, the steel member () being a hardened and tempered steel member having a high tensile strength, at least one selected portion () of the steel member () coated by thermal spraying with a tungsten carbide-cobalt composition () to provide wear and corrosion resistance, the tungsten carbide-cobalt composition () being approximately 78-90% tungsten carbide and approximately 10-19% cobalt, and a sacrificial ceramic-metallic coating () on the steel member () to provide corrosion resistance for the steel member (). A method of coating a steel member () is also disclosed.

Aircraft wheel part having improved corrosion resistance

A method of restoring a damaged surface of a substrate to a functional condition through a filler material consisting essentially of tungsten disulfide and epoxy resin having a 10:1 ratio by weight. The filler material is cured after being applied to the damaged surface by uniformly raising the temperature to a cure temperature of the epoxy to allow any volatiles to evaporate without the creation of voids in the surface such that the resulting porosity prevents corrosion of the substrate when exposed to aromatic fuels at temperatures of 350 degrees F. The filler material consists of tungsten disulfide and a two part epoxy such as Hysol EA 9394/C-2.

Method for restoring a surface on a metal substrate

A method of restoring a damaged surface of a metal substrate to a functional conditions through application of a filler material consisting essentially of bismaleimide and tungsten disulfide having a ratio of 10:1. The bismaleimide having been cured through the following sequence to maintain the durability thereof when exposed to aromatic fuels at temperatures up to 500.degree. F., the temperature of the bismaleimide is uniformly raised from room temperature to 350.degree. F. in one hour and maintained at 350.degree. F. for an additional hour and thereafter the temperature is immediately raised to 475.degree. F. and maintained at 475.degree. F. for an additional two hours.

Tungsten disulfide modified bismaleimide

A method of restoring a damaged surface of a substrate to a functional condition through a filler material consisting essentially of tungsten disulfide epoxy resin having a 10:1 ratio. The filler material is cured after being applied to the damaged surface by uniformly raising the temperature to a cure temperature of the epoxy to allow any volatiles to evaporate without the creation of voids in the surface such that the resulting porosity prevents corrosion of the substrate when exposed to aromatic fuels at temperatures of 350 degrees F.
