A control system operates multiple vehicles at a work site, including a first, a second and a third vehicle. The system has a control unit that is configured to establish a first communication connection with each of the vehicles and a second communication connection with a safety key, allowing vehicle operation only while the second connection is active. The control system enhances safety by acting as a kill switch, stopping vehicle operation if the safety key connection is disrupted.

System for operating vehicles at a work site

The invention relates to a method for controlling an autonomous vehicle in a worksite. The method comprises the steps of: receiving a predetermined trajectory of a work sequence of the autonomous vehicle, the predetermined trajectory including at least a set path and a set speed; adding a pre-defined variation to the predetermined trajectory to form a test trajectory, the variation including at least a variation in set path or set speed; comparing the energy usage over the test trajectory and the predetermined trajectory; determining whether or not the compared energy usage achieves a pre-set criteria; and setting the test trajectory as a new set trajectory of the autonomous vehicle in response to determining that the compared energy usage achieves the pre-set criteria.

Method for controlling an autonomous vehicle operating at a worksite

An arrangement for a work site includes a radio transmitter arrangeable at the work site for transmitting signals receivable by a radio receiver arranged on a vehicle at the work site. The radio transmitter is arranged to define a work site zone of the work site by means of the coverage of the radio signals from the radio transmitter. A predetermined vehicle operation condition for the vehicle is different in the work site zone when receiving the radio signals compared to outside the work site zone when not receiving the radio signals.
