A vehicle seatbelt usage indicating device for indicating, to a person proximate to the vehicle, proper usage of a seatbelt includes a light emitter, which can be affixed to an exterior surface of a door of a vehicle. The light emitter is engageable to an electronic control unit of the vehicle so that the light emitter is operationally engaged thereto. The electronic control unit is positioned to receive a signal from a sensor engaged to a buckle of a seatbelt, which is integral to a seat positioned adjacent to the door of the vehicle. The sensor is positioned to detect insertion of a latch into the buckle. The electronic control unit is positioned to selectively actuate the light emitter to indicate, upon insertion of the latch into the buckle, proper usage of the seatbelt to a person proximate to the vehicle.

An exterior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle including an extendable mirror for improved rearward viewing is disclosed. Several embodiments of the rearview mirror assembly each comprise a mirror housing, a mirror disposed in the mirror housing, and some structure to allow extension of the mirror between an inboard position and an outboard position. In one embodiment, the mirror assembly includes structure to allow rotation of the mirror between inboard and outboard positions. The mirror may comprise a post disposed in a mirror shell and extending along a longitudinal horizontal axis which extends through a plane defined by the mirror, offset from a central vertical axis of the mirror. In another embodiment, the means for rotating the mirror comprises a pivot part having a shaft disposed in an aperture in the mirror shell, which is disposed along the longitudinal horizontal axis. In yet another embodiment, the mean for extending the mirror for an inboard position to an outboard position comprises a groove in the mirror housing, in which a mirror frame is slidably disposed. The frame may be slid, relative to the mirror housing, from an inboard position to an outboard position.

Extendable rearview mirror

An exterior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes an extendable mirror for improved rearward viewing. The mirror assembly includes a mirror housing, a mirror disposed in the mirror housing, and a structure to allow extension of the mirror between an inboard position and an outboard position. The mirror can include a post disposed in a mirror shell extending along a longitudinal axis offset from a central axis of the mirror. The structure for rotating the mirror can include a pivot part having a shaft disposed in an aperture in the mirror shell which is disposed along the longitudinal axis. The structure for extending the mirror can include a groove in the mirror housing in which the mirror frame is slidably disposed. The frame may be slid relative to the mirror housing from the inboard position to the outboard position.

A deck base for mounting a seat on a deck of a boat is molded from plastic as a single part. A downwardly extending tube receives a pedestal mount from the seat. Structural support is provided to this tube, including a concentric outer tube, and frusto-conical supporting web. The plate portion of the deck base has a caulking groove at its outer periphery.

An exterior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle including an extendable mirror for improved rearward viewing is disclosed. Extendable rear view mirror

An automotive door handle assembly includes an escutcheon sized to fit in a door aperture; a handle pivotally mounted on the escutcheon; a fastener device extending rearwardly from the escutcheon; and a clip of U-configuration having a bight portion and upper and lower leg portions extending forwardly from opposite edges of the bight portion in outwardly splayed relation with an aperture in the bight portion fitted over the fastener device to position the clip rearwardly of the escutcheon with the leg portions extending forwardly in embracing relation to the escutcheon. A resilient cushion member is fitted between the clip upper leg portion and the adjacent surface of the escutcheon and dimples upstand from the clip lower leg portion for slidable engagement with the adjacent escutcheon surface. As the fastener device is tightened, following pivotal positioning of the handle assembly in the door aperture, the clip moves forwardly to bring clamping edge portions of the upper and lower clip leg portions into clamping engagement with the inner face of the door skin while the resilient cushion member compresses to facilitate the forward movement of the upper leg portion and the dimples on the lower leg portion slide on the adjacent escutcheon surface to facilitate the forward movement of the lower leg portion. After engaging the door skin, further tightening of the fastener device causes the free ends of the upper and lower leg portions to splay outwardly to produce a spring force to augment the mounting force exerted by the clip.

Door handle assembly and method of mounting

A bug guard for a beverage can includes a retaining slot adapted to receive over the can tab actuator. The bug guard is secured to the top lid of the can by bending the tab actuator upward, sliding the tab actuator through the retaining slot, and bending the tab actuator downward. The bug guard includes a plurality of apertures in alignment with the drink opening to allow a consumer to drink from the can while preventing insects and debris from entering the can through the drink opening.

A gravity actuated switch and an automotive under hood or under deck lid light assembly utilizing the switch. The switch includes a blade and a ball mounted for rolling movement along the blade in response to a change in attitude of the switch. The ball is operative in response to such rolling movement to move the blade between a first configuration in which the switch is open and a second configuration in which the switch is closed. The blade comprises a beam member formed of a spring material arranged in cantilever fashion. The spring material of the beam is electrically conductive and the beam forms a part of the electrical circuit path through the switch.
