An apparatus for drug delivery is presented in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The apparatus includes a laser-driven photoacoustic microfluid pump (LDMP), an open tube capillary including a first end and a second end; the first end disposed on the LDMP, the open tube capillary configured to store a drug. The LDMP is configured to generate a fluidic jet from the drug and deliver the drug.

Ultra-high ambipolar mobility cubic boron arsenide

Discussed herein are methods of orienting one-dimensional and two-dimensional materials via the application of stationary and rotating magnetic fields. The oriented one-dimensional and two-dimensional materials may exhibit macroscopic properties, and may be employed in various measurement devices as well as thermal and electrical shielding applications or battery devices. A single 1D or 2D material may be suspended in another material such as dionized water, polymer(s), or other materials during the orientation, and the suspension may remain as a liquid or may be solidified or partially solidified to secure the oriented material(s) into place. The 1D and 2D materials that respond to the magnetic orientation may further cause other elements of the suspension to be oriented in a similar manner.

Disclosed is a system including a substrate having a first side and a second side and a layer of photoacoustic material disposed on the first side of the substrate. The layer of photoacoustic material is configured to generate a directional ultrasound wave in response to a laser beam impinging on the layer. A conduit may be coupled to the housing and have an opening adjacent to the layer of photoacoustic material; the directional ultrasound wave may be directed through fluid that is contained in the conduct to generate a liquid jet in a liquid.

Electronic-photonic integrated circuits (EPICs), such a monolithically integrated circuit, are considered to be next generation technology that takes advantage of high-speed optical communication and nanoscale electronics. Atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) may serve as a perfect platform to realize EPIC. The generation and detection of light by a monolayer TMD at nanoscale through surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) may be utilized to provide optical communication. The bidirectional nature of the TMDs allow such a layer to be utilizes as part of emitters or photodetectors for EPICs.

Method to fabricate chip-scale electronic photonic (plasmonic)-integrated circuits

In an embodiment, the present disclosure pertains to photocatalysts with high solar-to-hydrogen overall water splitting efficiency. In an embodiment, the photocatalyst is a nanocrystalline cobalt (II) oxide (CoO) nanoparticle. In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to methods of synthesizing the photocatalysts disclosed herein. Such a method may comprise using femtosecond laser ablation of cobalt oxide micropowders. In some embodiments, such a method comprises mechanical ball milling of cobalt oxide micropowders. In an embodiment, the photocatalyst disclosed herein decomposes water under visible light without the aid of any co-catalysts or sacrificial reagents. In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to methods of splitting water to produce hydrogen.
