An example apparatus for downhole cement inspection may include a tool body and an acoustic transmitter coupled to the tool body. An acoustic receiver may be coupled to the tool body at a first distance from the acoustic transmitter. A first array of acoustic receivers may be coupled to and positioned around a circumference of the tool body at a second distance from the acoustic transmitter. The second distance may be greater than the first distance. The acoustic receiver may be one receiver of a second array of acoustic receivers coupled to and positioned around the circumference of the tool body at the first distance. The first distance may be approximately three feet and the second distance may be approximately five feet.

According to aspects of the present disclosure an example downhole tool may include a tool body and a first conformable sensor coupled to the tool body. The first conformable sensor may include a flexible material, with a transmitter and receiver coupled to the flexible material. The downhole tool further may include an arm extendable from the tool body and a pad coupled to the arm. The first conformable sensor may be coupled to the pad.

Downhole measurement and survey tools with conformable sensors

An example method for downhole surveying and measuring may include receiving a measurement from a receiver of a conformable sensor, the measurement corresponding to a response of a downhole element to an electromagnetic signal generated by a transmitter of the conformable sensor. A parameter of the downhole element may be determined based, at least in part, on the received measurement. A visualization of a feature of the downhole element may be generated based, at least in part, on at least one of the received measurement and the determined parameter.

Downhole inspection, detection, and imaging using conformable sensors

An apparatus includes a propellant chamber, an expansion chamber, an exit chamber comprising a port providing fluid communication outside the apparatus, and a longitudinal acceleration chamber. The longitudinal acceleration chamber includes a first end in fluid communication with the propellant chamber, a second end in fluid communication with the expansion chamber, and a longitudinal axis between the first end and the second end. An acceleration mass is slidably contained in the acceleration chamber. The acceleration chamber includes a propellant side between the propellant chamber and the acceleration mass, and a target side between the acceleration mass and the expansion chamber. A transfer piston is slidably positioned between the expansion chamber and the exit chamber. The transfer piston includes a first end projecting into the expansion chamber and aligned with the longitudinal axis of the acceleration chamber, and a second end projecting into the exit chamber.

Propellant back off tool

Method and system that permits explosive operations to be conducted concurrently with drilling and other wellsite operations involving an electrical top drive mechanism or other components that utilize electricity are disclosed. A platform is placed at a location where subterranean operations are to be performed. A first well bore is drilled in a formation using drilling equipment on the platform by activating a top drive. Concurrently with drilling the first well bore, a perforating operation is performed in a second well bore extending from the platform. The perforating operation is performed using a perforating gun that comprises at least one of an electric isolator and an explosive isolator. The perforating gun is activated when the perforating gun reaches a safe depth.

System and method for safely conducting explosive operations in a formation

A switch includes a spring. The switch further includes a collapsing element. The spring has a first state in which it is being held in tension by a restraining element and a second state in which it is not being held in tension because the restraining element has failed. The collapsing element is situated such that when sufficient power is applied to the collapsing element heat from the collapsing element will cause the restraining element to fail. The switch further includes a first contact coupled to the spring. The switch further includes a second contact coupled to the spring. The first contact and the second contact are separate from each other when the spring is in the first state. The first contact and the second contact are electrically connected to each other when the spring is in the second state.
