A sharpening tool for a veneer knife has a primary stone and a secondary stone driven by a power head. The secondary stone is inclined at an angle to the primary stone corresponding to the angle of the defined faces of the veneer knife cutting edge. Outrigger supports are provided as gauge and guide members for the sharpening tool. The primary stone engages one face of the cutting edge and the secondary stone engages the other face of the cutting edge. The secondary stone is forcibly engaged with the primary stone and is rotatably driven by the primary stone.

A fold-down detachable utility tray for invalid walkers is disclosed, including a generally rectangular tray frame in combination with a pair of locking, fold-down arms each having spring clips for securement to the upright members of an invalid walker. In one preferred embodiment, the center of gravity of the tray is located over the pivot point of the locking arms, so that the weight of objects placed on the tray causes the arms to lock more tightly, promoting stability of the tray. The locking arms each include an elongated angle bracket provided with a pivot. An actuator arm has a first end movably connected to the pivot and a second end slidingly engaged in a slot in the tray frame. One end of the slot is provided with a upwardly extending locking notch to hold the arm in the extended position.

Folding tray for invalid walkers

An adjustable hand grip that can slide along the vertical supports of an orthopedic crutch is provided. The hand grip can be easily fixed to the supports at different vertical elevations to accommodate the user by providing a sleeve that surrounds and slides over each vertical support. Each sleeve has an aperture that can be aligned with the apertures in the vertical support. A bracket that extends between the vertical supports rigidly connects the sleeves. A locking member for locking the sleeve to a vertical support is provided and comprises a generally U-shaped clamp that surrounds a portion of the sleeve and a pin that can be inserted through aligned apertures in the sleeve and vertical support so that the hand grip is firmly fixed to the vertical support.

An improvement to a tubular height adjustable crutch of the type having a foot telescopically slidable within a carrier tube supported between the parallel lower ends of two crutch bows, where the crutch bow ends are right cylinders cut so as to form a right angle corner with the footpiece or carrier tube. A unitary end cap is fitted over the bow ends and the carrier tube for retaining these three members together and to provide an integral bushing for supporting the footpiece against wobbling within the carrier tube. The improvement consists of modifying the cap bottom to provide slanting edges or surfaces for deflecting staircase edges away from possible engagement with the corner defined between the bow ends and the carrier tube, thus preventing consequent injury to the crutch user.

A walking aid adapted for use either before or behind the invalid user and comprising a pair of tubular side sections spaced apart and connected by a transverse brace at one pair of opposed ends to form a four legged free standing walker frame. Each side section support and adjustably disposable upwardly extending hand support enable the latter to be best positioned for the user and for the use of the walker in either its fore of after the patient position.
