A fireplace having a plurality of faux logs sequentially lit using a single ignitor and flame jumping between the faux logs. The ignitor ignites a first faux log, which after a time period ignites a neighboring second faux log. After another time period, the second faux log ignites a neighboring third faux log and so on. The sequentially lighting of the faux logs creates an aesthetically pleasing lighting sequence, and also a pleasing sequential lighting sound. The faux logs are individually supported by a respective conduit over media disposed on an ember bed and which individually supplies gas to the respective faux log.

A thin faux fireplace that can be installed in a wall, such as a 2″×4″ wall, having a faux flame viewable from both sides of the faux fireplace. A transparent material, such as glass, is coated with a thin film having nano sized particles, and an ultra short-throw projector displays the faux flame on the thin film. A user can see object on the other side of the faux fireplace, and also view the faux flame on the thin film rooms on both sides of the transparent material.

A faux fireplace having a controller generating an imitation log crackling sound synchronized to an ember flicker of a faux log. The faux fireplace includes a video display displaying a video flame having releasing embers based on a video loop stored as a video file in memory. The controller generates the imitation log crackling sound for the displayed releasing embers as well. The type of crackling sounds and the volume of the crackling sound are different for each of the faux logs to create an authentic visual and audio experience. The ember flickers are generated by lighting associated with each of the faux logs.

A faux fireplace having a video faux flame with a selectively controllable speed. A video file stored in memory includes a video loop of the faux flame, wherein a user can selectively control a playback speed of the video loop. This allows a user to control a presentation of the flame, and a flicker rate of the flame to establish an ambiance. A remote control, such as a smart mobile device running an app, can be used to establish the speed of the of the video faux flame and other parameters.

A faux fireplace having synchronized lighting. The faux fireplace includes a firebox having a video display generating a colored faux flame at the back of the firebox, a faux ember bed with lighting having user selectable colors along a bottom of the firebox and in front of the video display, and down-lighting generating user selectable colors. A user input allows a user to synchronize the colors of the faux flame, the faux ember bed lighting, and the down-lighting in a setting. The user input allows the user to save a plurality of settings such that the controller generates the synchronized colors upon a single user touch. The firebox has a shallow depth such that it can be mounted in many settings, such as on the ground or inserted in a wall.
