A device includes a liquid metal and a ferrofluid contained in a closed tube. Many electrode groups are connected to the closed tube. A feedback device is connected to the electrode groups. The feedback device switches power to each electrode group in series to circulate the liquid metal and move the ferrofluid in the closed tube.

Method and apparatus for removing heat

An assembly for a computer system is described. That assembly comprises a frame that has a base, a first side and a second side. The assembly also includes a backplane, which is coupled to the frame, and a connector. The connector has a first end that is coupled to the backplane and a second end for receiving a disk drive connector. The assembly enables a disk drive carrier to be secured between the first and second sides such that it is oriented sideways with respect to a front surface of a computer system chassis. Also described are a disk drive storage unit and a computer system that include that assembly.

Hot swap drawer assembly

A hot swap disk drive carrier and drive bay with improved EMI/RVI/ESD suppression characteristics is disclosed. The disk drive carrier comprises a frame that has a base, and first and second arms that are coupled to the base. The carrier further includes a handle, which is coupled to the base, and slide rails that are coupled to the first and second arms. The disk drive bay comprises a plate that has first and second sides. The plate is coupled to first and second walls. These walls have grooves for receiving the disk drive carrier's slide rails.

Hot swap disk drive carrier and disk drive bay

A computer subassembly that includes a pair of disk drives each attached to an end of a module. The module has a printed circuit board that couples the disk drives to a single connector extending from the subassembly. The connector can be plugged into a mating connector within the computer, which provides power and allows the transmission of digital signals between the disk drives and the computer. The disk drives can be electrically and structurally coupled to the computer by merely plugging the module connector into the computer connector.
