A method of converting nitrogen oxides in a gas to nitrogen by contacting the nitrogen oxides with a nitrogenous reducing agent in the presence of a zeolite catalyst containing at least one transition metal, wherein the zeolite is a small pore zeolite containing a maximum ring size of eight tetrahedral atoms, wherein the at least one transition metal is selected from the group consisting of Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ce, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, In, Sn, Re, Jr and Pt.

Transition metal/zeolite SCR catalysts

The present invention is directed to a method of preparing a synthetic crystalline material, designated as JMZ-12, with a framework built up by the disorder AEI and CHA structures, substantially free of framework phosphorous and prepared preferably in the absence of halides such as fluoride ions. Such method comprises the step of heating a reaction mixture under crystallization conditions for a sufficient period to form a disordered zeolite having both CHA and AEI topologies, wherein the reaction mixture comprises at least one source of aluminum, at least one source of silicon, a source of alkaline or alkaline-earth cations, and a structure directing agent containing at least one source of quaternary ammonium cations and at least one source of alkyl-substituted piperidinium cations in a molar ratio of 0.20 to about 1.4. The resulting zeolites are useful as catalysts, particularly when used in combination with exchanged transition metal(s) and, optionally, rare earth metal(s).

A passive NOx absorber for treating an exhaust gas from a diesel engine is described. The passive NOx absorber comprises a first washcoat region comprising a zeolite catalyst, the zeolite catalyst comprising a noble metal and a zeolite having a SAR of 2-15.

Passive NOadsorber

A passive NOadsorber is disclosed. The passive NOadsorber is effective to adsorb NOat or below a low temperature and release the adsorbed NOat temperatures above the low temperature. The passive NOadsorber comprises a noble metal and a molecular sieve having an LTL Framework Type. The invention also includes an exhaust system comprising the passive NOadsorber, and a method for treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine utilizing the passive NOadsorber.

The NOx adsorber catalyst comprises a first region comprising a NOx adsorber material comprising a first molecular sieve catalyst. The first molecular sieve catalyst comprises a first noble metal and a first molecular sieve, and the first molecular sieve contains the noble metal. The first molecular sieve has an STI Framework Type.

Passive NOx adsorber

JMZ-1, a zeolite having a CHA structure and containing trimethyl(cyclohexylmethyl)ammonium cations as a structure directing agent is described. A calcined zeolite, JMZ-1C, that does not contain a structure directing agent, is also described. Metal containing JMZ-1C has improved SCR activity compared to CHA-containing zeolites having the same metal loading and comparable silica:alumina ratios (SAR). Methods of preparing JMZ-1, JMZ-1C and metal containing calcined counterparts of JMZ-1C are described along with methods of using JMZ-1C and metal containing calcined counterparts of JMZ-1C in treating exhaust gases.

JMZ-1, a CHA-containing zeolite and methods of preparation

SCR-active molecular-sieve based catalysts with improved low-temperature performance are made by heating a molecular-sieve in a non-oxidizing atmosphere with steam (hydrothermal treatment), or in a reducing atmosphere without steam (thermal treatment), at a temperature in the range of 600-900&#xb0; C. for a time period from 5 minutes to two hours. The resulting SCR-active iron-containing molecular sieves exhibit a selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides with NHor urea at 250&#xb0; C. that is at least 50% greater than if the iron-containing molecular-sieve were calcined at 500&#xb0; C. for two hours without performing the hydrothermal or thermal treatment.

SCR catalysts having improved low temperature performance, and methods of making and using the same

A catalyst washcoat is provided having a molecular sieve with a CHA crystal structure; about 0.5 to about 5.0 mol % phosphorus; and SiOand AlOin a mole ratio of about 5 to about 40. The washcoat includes one or more promoters or stabilizers, and may be applied to a monolith substrate to produce a catalytically active article.

Low phosphorus chabazites

Catalysts and articles useful for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) are disclosed. The catalyst comprises a cerium oxide and an octahedral molecular sieve (OMS) comprising manganese oxide. The catalysts, which comprise 0.1 to 50 wt. % of cerium, can be made by doping, ion-exchange, deposition, or other techniques. Also disclosed is an SCR process in which a gaseous mixture comprising nitrogen oxides is selectively reduced in the presence of a reductant and the cerium-modified OMS catalyst. The cerium-modified manganese oxide OMS catalysts offer unexpected advantages for selective catalytic reduction, especially NH-SCR, including improved thermal stability and improved activity for NOx conversion, especially at relatively low temperatures (100&#xb0; C. to 250&#xb0; C.).

Provided is a method for reducing NO emissions in an exhaust gas comprising contacting an exhaust gas containing NHand an inlet NO concentration with an SCR catalyst composition containing small pore zeolite having an SAR of about 3 to about 15 and having about 1-5 wt. % of an exchanged transition metal.

Catalyst for treating exhaust gas

Provided is a catalyst composition having an aluminosilicate molecular sieve having an AEI structure and a mole ratio of silica-to-alumina of about 20 to about 30 loaded with about 1 to about 5 weight percent of a promoter metal, based on the total weight of the molecular sieve material. Also provided are method, articles, and systems utilizing the catalyst composition.
