A method for receiving fluid from a natural gas pipeline, the fluid comprising gaseous hydrocarbons, liquid hydrocarbons, water and optionally solids, the method comprising: (a) in a slug catcher (), receiving the fluid comprising gaseous hydrocarbons, liquid hydrocarbons, water and optionally solids from at least one pipeline () (b) in the slug catcher (), separating at least a portion of the gaseous hydrocarbons from the rest of the fluid to leave a liquid mixture or a liquid/solid mixture; (c) directing at least a portion of the liquid mixture or liquid/solid mixture to a separation vessel (), preferably a three-phase separation vessel; and (d) in the event of a surge of liquids and optionally solids to the slug catcher (), directing at least a portion of the liquid mixture or the liquid/solid mixture from the slug catcher () to a surge vessel ().

Method for receiving fluid from a natural gas pipeline

A process for the production of normally gaseous, normally liquid and optionally normally solid hydrocarbons from a light hydrocarbonaceous feed gas stream, which feed gas stream includes sulphur compounds and carbon dioxide, the process comprising the steps of: (i) removing at least most of the sulphur compounds from the feed gas stream by an aqueous amine process in one or more reactors, optionally followed by on or more further treatment processes; (ii) controlling where necessary the amount of carbon dioxide in the feed gas stream in step (i) so as to be in the range 0.25-2.0 v/v&, preferably 0.5-1.5 v/v %, of the processed feed stream; (iii) using the feed gas stream of step (ii) to provide synthesis gas; and (iv) catalytic converting the synthesis gas of step (iii) at an elevated temperature and pressure to obtain the normally gaseous, normally liquid and optionally normally solid hydrocarbons.

Removal of carbon dioxide from a gas stream

A system () for separating a fluid stream () comprising gas, a light liquid and a heavy liquid, the system comprising a separation vessel () that is arranged to define a downwardly extending separation space and comprises a downwardly sloping tube (), the separation space having an inlet () for the fluid stream at a first height, an outlet () for heavy liquid at a second height below the first height, an outlet () for light liquid at a third height between the first and second heights, an outlet () for gas above all outlets for liquid, wherein a further outlet () for light liquid is provided at a fourth height between the first and third heights, and wherein at least the outlet at the third height is provided with a control valve () that is operative to open and close in dependence of the type of liquid in the pipes at that level, and a method of separating a fluid stream comprising gas, a light liquid and a heavy liquid in such a system, wherein an indication of height of an interface between heavy and light liquid in the separation vessel is obtained and the control valve at the third outlet is operated in dependence on the height of the interface.
