Various methods and apparatus are disclosed for mitigating interference between communications between different radio access technologies in a communication device. Methods and apparatus include communicating between a first communication device and a second communication device according to a first communication protocol, and communicating between the first communication device and a third communication device according to a second communication protocol. The methods and apparatus further include determining a first time interval associated with when data is to be transmitted between the first communication device and the second communication device according to the first communications protocol. The methods and apparatus also include sending to the third communication device, an indication of a second time interval to prompt the third communication device not transmit to the first communication device during the second time interval, wherein the second time interval corresponds to the first time interval.

Method and system for mitigating interference between different radio access technologies utilized by a communication device

In a wireless network including a first cell and a second cell, it is determined whether a measure of mobility of a user device meets a mobility criterion, and it is determined whether a size of the second cell meets a cell size criterion. When it is determined that (i) the measure of mobility of the user device meets the mobility criterion and (ii) the size of the second cell meets the cell size criterion, the user device is prevented from being switched from the first cell to the second cell, or at least one of (i) a handover parameter or (ii) a cell reselection parameter is adjusted in order to change a probability that the user device will switch from the first cell to the second cell.

User mobility control for heterogeneous wireless networks

A method is implemented in a communication device operating in a carrier aggregation mode utilizing a plurality of component carriers, where the plurality of component carriers includes at least (i) a primary component carrier associated with a primary cell and a primary cell broadcast message channel, and (ii) a secondary component carrier associated with a secondary cell and a secondary cell broadcast message channel. The method includes receiving, at the communication device, a broadcast message associated with the primary cell via (i) the primary cell broadcast message channel or (ii) the secondary cell broadcast message channel, decoding, at the communication device, the received broadcast message associated with the primary cell, receiving, at the communication device, a broadcast message associated with the secondary cell via the secondary cell broadcast message channel, and decoding, at the communication device, the received broadcast message associated with the secondary cell.

Communicating broadcast signals in carrier-aggregated wireless networks

A wireless communication device first and second transceivers to transmit in respective first and second frequency bands. The device includes an arbiter to map the first frequency band into a plurality of regions and sub-regions and map a plurality of channels to the sub-regions, and a first controller to select one of the plurality of sub-regions and inform the arbiter of the selected one of the plurality of sub-regions. The arbiter is further to select a first group of channels in the second frequency band when the selected one of the plurality of sub-regions is a first sub-region, select a second group of channels in the second frequency band when the selected one of the plurality of sub-regions is a second sub-region, and select a third group of channels in the second frequency band when the selected one of the plurality of sub-regions is a third sub-region.

Systems and methods for managing coexistence in wireless communication devices

Systems, methods, apparatus, and techniques are provided for transmitting information to user equipment (UE) in a communications network. Data is generated in (i) a first frequency range associated with a first set of carriers and (ii) a second frequency range associated with a second set of carriers, where the first frequency range specifies a first communications cell and the second frequency range specifies a second communications cell. The first cell, is assigned as a primary cell to a first set of UEs in the communications network. Control data is transmitted to both the first set of UEs and a second set of UEs using at least a portion of the first set of carriers.

Cell deployment with different channel bandwidth for carrier aggregation

In a method of allocating wireless medium resources in a communication system, the communication system including a base station and a plurality of client stations sharing a channel bandwidth, a frequency sub-band of the channel bandwidth is selected for allocating wireless medium resources to a client station. Wireless medium resources are allocated at the base station to the client station. The base station is constrained to allocate wireless medium resources to the client station within the selected frequency sub-band. A subframe is generated for transmission to the client station. The subframe includes at least a data region that contains data for the client station. The data for the client station is confined to be within the selected frequency sub-band.

Scheduling schemes for user equipment power saving in a communication network

The present disclosure describes systems and techniques relating to wireless communications. According to an aspect of the described systems and techniques, an apparatus includes circuitry configured to receive a signal representing a wireless communication transmission; and circuitry configured to process the signal to (i) decode a control portion of the wireless communication transmission, (ii) determine from the decoded control portion that a data portion of the wireless communication transmission was successfully decoded previously and acknowledged, and so the wireless communication transmission is an unnecessary retransmission, and (iii) trigger acknowledgement of the wireless communication transmission being successfully decoded, without completing a decode of the data portion of the wireless communication transmission, when the unnecessary retransmission is detected.

Method and apparatus for detecting and processing a retransmitted data packet in a wireless network

A device including a transmitter, a receiver and an arbiter. The transmitter transmits a first signal. The first signal has a fundamental frequency in a first frequency band of a first wireless protocol. The receiver receives a second signal. The second signal has a fundamental frequency in a second frequency band of a second wireless protocol. The first frequency band is adjacent to or at least partially overlaps the second frequency band. The arbiter allows the transmitter to transmit the first signal in the first frequency band while the receiver receives the second signal in the second frequency band. The arbiter also, if a power level of the first signal is less than a first threshold, changes: a modulation and coding scheme of the transmitter for the first signal; a modulation and coding scheme of the receiver for the second signal; or a multiple input and multiple output rank.

Devices for coexistence of transmitters and receivers operating based on different wireless protocols

In a method of synchronizing time domain multiplexing interference mitigation schemes of at least a first, second, and third wireless communication link within a first, second, and third network, respectively, a first set of parameters defining a first set of time intervals is determined. The first set of time intervals is utilized to schedule transmissions of the first wireless communication link to reduce interference with transmissions of the second wireless communication link. A second set of parameters defining a second set of time intervals is determined. The second set of time intervals is utilized to schedule transmissions of the first wireless communication link to reduce interference with transmissions of the third wireless communication link. The second set of parameters is determined based at least in part on at least one of the first set of parameters.

Synchronized interference mitigation scheme for heterogeneous wireless networks

A method includes determining a first measure of a benefit of disallowing transmission during a time period within a time frame. The benefit of disallowing transmission includes an immediate benefit of disallowing transmission during the time period, and a future benefit of having, for use in a subsequent portion of the time frame, a decremented number of opportunities to disallow transmission. The method also includes determining a second measure of a benefit of not disallowing transmission during the time period. The benefit of not disallowing transmission includes an immediate benefit of not disallowing transmission during the time period, and a future benefit of having, for use in the subsequent portion of the time frame, a non-decremented number of opportunities to disallow transmission. The method also includes determining whether to disallow transmission during the time period at least in part by comparing the first measure to the second measure.

Autonomous denial of transmission in device with coexisting communication technologies

Systems and techniques relating to wireless communications are described. A described technique includes transmitting to a wireless communication device a positioning request paging message, the positioning request paging message including a capability request, a location information request, or both; and receiving, during a connection establishment process, a connection message from the wireless communication device, the connection message including a positioning response that is responsive to the positioning request paging message.

A received signal that includes a plurality of user signals is demodulated. The plurality of user signals includes at least a first user signal and a second user signal. The first user signal corresponds to first user data that has been modulated independently of second user data corresponding to the second user signal, and the first user signal is encoded with a first finite state machine encoder independently of the other user signals. The first finite state machine encoder has a number of states S. The second user signal is encoded with a second finite state machine encoder independently of the other user signals, and the second finite state machine encoder has a number of states S. Demodulating the received signal includes calculating distances between (i) each transmit symbol in the received signal and (ii) expected symbol values, wherein each expected symbol value corresponds to user data for multiple users including the first user and the second user. The first user data in the received signal is decoded based on the calculated distances utilizing a finite state machine decoder having Sstates.
