Embodiments of the disclosure provide a system for controlling laser pulses emitted by an optical sensing device. The system may include a laser emitter configured to emit a plurality of laser pulses, a power source configured to deliver electrical currents to the laser emitter, and a control circuit configured to deliver electrical currents from the power source to the laser emitter. The control circuit may include a first control path configured to deliver a first electrical current rising at a first rate from the power source to the laser emitter to emit a first laser pulse. The control circuit may also include a second control path configured to deliver a second electrical current rising at a second rate from the power source to the laser emitter to emit a second laser pulse following the first laser pulse. The second rate may be higher than the first rate.

Systems and methods for controlling laser power in light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems

Apparatuses and methods for controlling a micro-mirror are provided. In one example, a controller is coupled with a micro-mirror assembly comprising a micro-mirror, an actuator, and a sensor. The controller is configured to: receive a reference signal including information of a target oscillatory rotation of the micro-mirror; receive, from the sensor, the measurement signal of an oscillatory rotation of the micro-mirror; determine, based on the measurement signal and the information included in the reference signal, a difference between the oscillatory rotation of the micro-mirror and the target oscillatory rotation; receive an input control signal; generate, based on the difference and the input control signal, an output control signal to control at least one of a phase or an amplitude of the oscillatory rotation of the micro-mirror; and transmit the output control signal to the actuator.

System and methods for synchronizing rotation of multiple mirrors

In some embodiments, a method for operating a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) system in an automobile provides a more accurate range estimate by combining multiple processed waveforms which are weighted according to their signal to noise ratios. At least one waveform is transmitted within a first time period, and reflected of an object. The reflected waveform is received and processed to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR). The processing produces a higher number of output waveforms, such as through processing convolution. The SNR for each of the output waveforms is determined. An estimated range to the object from each output waveform is determined. The estimated ranges are then weighted according to their SNRs, and combined to provide an final determined range to the object.
