A method of producing a cooled dry gas is provided. The method includes exposing an input gas to an aqueous saline solution having a temperature of 20 to 80° C. to produce a first intermediate gas. In addition, the method further includes exposing the first intermediate gas to freshwater having a temperature of greater than −5° C. to less than 20° C. to produce a second intermediate gas. The method also includes cooling the second intermediate gas to a temperature of −40 to −5° C. to produce a cooled gas. The method further includes exposing the cooled gas to a chemical adsorbent to produce a saturated adsorbent and the cooled dry gas.

System and method of producing cooled dry gas

A multi-effect system and a multi-effect method for desalination are provided. The method comprises flowing saline water over a thermally conductive plate of a first evaporation chamber; heating the thermally conductive plate to evaporate the saline water, resulting in vapor; removing the vapor from the first evaporation chamber; compressing, using a compressor, the vapor, thereby creating compressed vapor; pumping the compressed vapor into a first condensation chamber; condensing the compressed vapor in the first condensation chamber, resulting in fresh water. The method further comprises heating, by heat released by the condensing of the compressed vapor, a second thermally conductive plate forming a top of the first condensation chamber and a bottom surface of a next evaporation chamber in a next desalination chamber in the vertical stack of desalination chambers.

A hybrid humidity control and air purification device and method for hybrid humidity control and air purification. The hybrid device is a single unit capable of humidifying dry environmental air, dehumidifying humid environmental air and removing particulates and contaminants from the air. The device controls the outgoing air to a relative humidity setpoint between 35-50% with negligible particulate matter content. Particulate matter is transferred to water, which may be supplied and flushed by an automatic water pumping system.

The present disclosure provides a solar surface steering system including a solar surface; a base mount; a main body having a first rotary vane actuator configured to rotate the solar surface via a first rotating joint, and a second rotary vane actuator configured to rotate the main body of the hydraulic actuator via a second rotating joint connected to the base mount; a fluid mover operably connected to each of the first and second rotary vane actuators and configured to actuate the first and second rotary vane actuators; and a control system electrically connected to the fluid mover and configured to control operations of the fluid mover, wherein the first and second rotary vane actuators are affixed to each other and positioned such that a rotational axis of the first rotary vane actuator is orthogonal to a rotational axis of the second rotary vane actuator.

Solar surface steering system and hydraulic actuator

A water mixing system attached to an existing plumbing system supplying ambient temperature water and providing temperature regulated water to a user. The water mixing system includes an insulated water tank, a heat pump connected to the insulated water tank with a heat rejecting radiator inside the insulated water tank and a heat absorbing radiator outside the insulated water tank, a temperature detector in the insulated water tank, and one outlet of the insulated water tank connected to a first inlet of a first dispensing water tank. Having a second inlet to receive the ambient temperature water from the existing plumbing system and at least one dispensing outlet, the first dispensing water tank provides mixed water of a desirable temperature from heated water from the insulated water tank and the ambient temperature water via control of the valves attached to the first inlet and the second inlet.

A method and system of controlling a temperature includes: controlling circulation of a thermal transfer fluid (TTF) for heat exchange with an interior or exterior of a building independently of heat pump operation; circulating a cold (hot) side TTF for heat exchange with outdoor air during a daytime (night-time); suspending the circulation for heat exchange with outdoor air, when an temperature management application in the building is expected to transfer enough heat to eliminate need of the circulation. A system (and a module for storage and control) for thermal energy storage and management for a building includes a heat pump, hot side and cold side PCM tanks, hot side and cold side TTF circuits to exchange heat with an inside or outside environment of the building by circulating each TTF, and a controller, where the circulation of both TTFs is configured independent of operation of the heat pump. The system allows serves as thermal battery for renewable energy or for grid power allowing decoupling of thermal energy utilization, the outdoor heat rejection/harvesting and the compressor's operation.

Method for thermal energy storage and management for building and module and system

A radiant cooling system comprises an enclosure, a cooling element and a cooling device. The enclosure includes a first wall that is transmissive of infrared radiation. The cooling element is disposed in the enclosure. The cooling device is coupled to the cooling element. The cooling element provides cooling mainly by radiative exchange. The system promotes cooling by radiative exchange and significantly reduces condensation problems and is compatible with open and enclosed spaces. Thermal losses of cooling power to conductive and convective pathways are significantly reduced. The system comes in a variety of forms including flat, cylindrical and dome-like geometries.

Water mixing system for thermoregulating water

An online cleaning system for tube and shell heat exchangers is presented. The system includes a positioner, a plunger, an umbilical cleaner, and a motor. The cleaning system cleans the tubes while the heat exchanger remains in operation. The cleaning system locates and isolates a single tube via rotating and translating mechanical actions and inserts the umbilical cleaner into the tube, which may clean the tube via rotational movement or via sonication. The cleaning system may further clean the outer surface of the tubes of the heat exchanger.
