Various embodiments herein relate to techniques that may improve coverage for a physical random access channel (PRACH). Additionally, some embodiments may relate to techniques for repetition of a channel state information (CSI) report on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for coverage enhancement. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Coverage for physical random access channel and repetition of CSI report on PUSCH for coverage enhancement

Embodiments herein provide techniques for transmission of a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) in a wireless cellular network. For example, transmission schemes are provided for sequence-based transmission of a PUCCH and/or to improve PUCCH coverage. User equipment (UE) may: determine uplink control information (UCI) pay load information for the PUCCH with a PUCCH format 1; determine a sequence for transmission of the PUCCH based on the UCI pay load information; and map the determined sequence to allocated resources for the PUCCH format 1 for transmission.

Transmission scheme for physical uplink control channel

For single carrier based waveform, Discrete Fourier Transform-spread-OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and single carrier with a frequency domain equalizer (SC-FDE) can be considered for both DL and UL. For OFDM based transmission scheme including DFT-s-OFDM, a cyclic prefix (CP) is inserted at the beginning of each block, where the last data symbols in a block is repeated as the CP. Typically, the length of CP exceeds the maximum expected delay spread in order to overcome the inter-symbol interference (ISI). For SC-FDE transmission scheme, a known sequence (guard interval (GI), unique word (UW), etc.) can be inserted at both the beginning and end of one block. Further, a linear equalizer in the frequency domain can be employed to reduce the receiver complexity. Compared to OFDM, SC-FDE transmission scheme can reduce Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) and thus allow the use of less costly power amplifier.

Reference signal design for a system operating above 52.6 gigahertz (GHz) carrier frequency

Communication in a wireless network using a phase-tracking reference signal (PT-RS) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) includes determining one or more PT-RS groups of adjacent subcarriers in a resource allocation for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), encoding data to be transmitted by the PUSCH or the PDSCH in data subcarriers within the resource allocation for the PUSCH or the PDSCH, and encoding phase-tracking reference signals within the one or more PT-RS groups of adjacent subcarriers.

Systems and methods of phase-tracking reference signal transmission for OFDM

A user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry coupled to memory. To configure the UE for New Radio (NR) communications above a 52.6 GHz carrier frequency, the processing circuitry is to decode radio resource control (RRC) signaling to obtain a cyclic shift value in time domain. The cyclic shift value is associated with a demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) antenna port (AP) of a plurality of available DM-RS APs. A single carrier based waveform DM-RS sequence corresponding to the DM-RS AP is generated using a base sequence and the cyclic shift value. The single carrier based waveform DM-RS sequence is encoded with uplink data for transmission to a base station using a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) using a carrier above the 52.6 GHz carrier frequency.

Reference signal and control information processing in 5G-NR wireless systems

An approach is described for a wireless communication for a fifth generation (5G) or new radio (NR) system. The wireless communication includes a gNode (gNB) configured to indicate a time domain resource allocation within one Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) size in a downlink control information (DCI), and to transmit a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) with a Discrete Fourier Transform-spread-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM) waveform in accordance with the time domain resource allocation within the one DFT size.

One or more computer-readable media (CRM) are disclosed. The CRM include instructions to, upon execution of the instructions by one or more processors of a base station, cause the base station to: generate a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) for phase shift compensation; and transmit the PT-RS across a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) using a single-carrier based waveform comprising a carrier frequency. The method further includes transmitting the waveform using front end circuitry, wherein the waveform is a single carrier waveform, and wherein the reference waveform is an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform.

The apparatuses and methods can include at least operating a base station (BS) to generate one or more physical downlink control channels (PDCCH) in a time division multiplexing (TDM) manner using a Discrete Fourier Transform-spread-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM) waveform, generate a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) which is multiplexed in the TDM manner with the one or more PDCCH, and transmit the one or more PDCCH and the DMRS to a user equipment (UE).

A user equipment (UE) configured for physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) repetition in an fifth-generation (5G) new radio (NR) network decodes a downlink control information (DCI) format that includes a scheduling grant for a PUSCH transmission. For a codebook-based PUSCH transmission, the DCI format indicates at least a first and a second transmit precoder matrix indicator (TPMI) index for PUSCH repetition. The UE may apply a precoder matrix determined from the first TPMI index to encode a PUSCH for a first PUSCH transmission occasion of the PUSCH repetition and may apply a precoder matrix determined from the second TPMI index to encode the PUSCH for a second PUSCH transmission occasion. For a non-codebook-based PUSCH transmission, the DCI format indicates at least a first and a second sounding reference signal (SRS) resource indicator (SRI) for PUSCH repetition. The UE may apply the first SRI to encode the PUSCH for the first PUSCH transmission occasion and may apply the second SRI to encode the PUSCH for the second PUSCH transmission occasion.
