The present invention relates to a method for producing diamond-metal composites comprising mixing diamond particles with metal-filler particles forming a diamond/metal-filler mixture, forming a green body of the diamond/metal-filler mixture, optionally green machining the green body to a work piece before or after pre-sintering by heating the green body to a temperature &#x2266;500&#xb0; C., infiltrating the green body or the work piece with one or more wetting elements or infiltrating the green body or the work piece with one or more wetting alloys, which infiltration step being carried out under vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere at a pressure &#x2266;200 Bar. The invention relates further to a green body, a diamond metal composite, and use of the diamond metal composite.

Diamond metal composite

A method for manufacturing a diamond composite, includes: a) mixing diamonds with additives, the mixture comprising at least 50 wt % and less than 95 wt % of diamonds and more than 5 wt % additives; b) forming a work piece from the mixture using a pressure of at least 100 Mpa; c) heating the formed work piece to at least 300&#xb0; C. for removing possible water and wholly or partially removing additives; d) heating the work piece and controlling the heating temperature and heating time so that a certain desired amount of graphite is created by graphitization of diamonds, wherein the amount of graphite created by graphitization is 3-50 wt % of the amount of diamond; e) infiltrating silicon or silicon alloy into the work piece.

Method for manufacturing a diamond composite

This invention relates to diamond-containing composite materials that have high thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity, and to the use of such materials in heat sinks, heat spreading and other heat conductive applications. The material comprises diamond particles silicone carbide and silicon and has a thermal conductivity of at least 400 W/mK and a thermal diffusivity of at least 2.1 cm/s.
