A device includes a voltage source configured to selectively drive a first wire and a second wire with a first voltage level. The device further includes an adjustable current source configured to selectively discharge the first and second wire. The device further includes a control circuit configured to output data and power by way of the first and second wire by selectively coupling the first wire to the voltage source and the second wire to the adjustable current source such that, during a first time period, the first wire has the first voltage level and the second wire has a second voltage level. The data and power is output by also selectively switching the couplings of the first time period such that, during a second time period subsequent to the first time period, the first wire has the second voltage level and the second wire has the first voltage level.

An implantable device includes a stimulation electronic circuit, a battery, a receiver configured to receive energy from a source external to the implantable stimulation device, and a battery charger circuit configured to use the energy to charge the battery and power the stimulation electronic circuit, the battery charger circuit including a load switch for connecting/disconnecting the battery, the load switch being controlled by the stimulation electronic circuit.

An exemplary sound processor apparatus included in an auditory prosthesis system includes a linear regulator and a sound processing integrated circuit ('IC'). The linear regulator 1) receives a source voltage signal having a source voltage level and provided by an external power source, 2) drops the source voltage level to an intermediate voltage level, and 3) outputs an intermediate voltage signal having the intermediate voltage level. The sound processing IC 1) performs one or more sound processing operations with respect to an audio signal presented to a patient associated with the auditory prosthesis system, 2) receives the intermediate voltage signal having the intermediate voltage level, 3) converts the intermediate voltage level into one or more supply voltage levels, and 4) outputs one or more supply voltage signals having the one or more supply voltage levels.
