Automated personalized identifier switching is provided for switching personalized identifiers for individuals and groups. For this purpose, a system includes: a computer readable memory, and a computer readable storage medium located in a computer; program instructions to store a plurality of identifiers of a user in a database, wherein each of the identifiers has a different closeness factor of the user than other identifiers of a same type stored in the database; program instructions to determine a closeness factor of a contact to a user; program instructions to match the determined closeness factor of the contact with an identifier having the same closeness factor stored in an database; and program instructions to transmit the matched identifier from the database to the contact for display as an identifier of the user.

Automated personalized identifier switching in view of closeness

Automated personalized identifier switching is provided for switching personalized identifiers for individuals and groups. For this purpose, a method includes determining, by a computer device, a closeness factor of a contact to a user, matching, by the computer, the determined closeness factor of the contact with an identifier having the same closeness factor stored in a database comprised of a plurality of different types of identifiers of the user, and transmitting the matched identifier from the database to the contact to display as an identifier of the user, wherein at least two of the plurality of identifiers in the database have different closeness factors from one another.

A user equipment (UE) expedites cell reselection by reselecting a neighbor cell prior to call setup. In one instance, the UE measures a signal quality of a serving cell and a signal quality of the neighbor cell. The UE starts a reselection timer for reselecting the neighbor cell based on the measured signal quality of the serving cell and the measured signal quality of the neighbor cell. The UE reselects the neighbor cell prior to a scheduled expiration of the reselection timer.

Fast cell reselection

A user equipment (UE) expedites cell reselection. In one instance, the UE starts a reselection timer for reselecting to a neighbor cell when a signal quality of a serving cell is determined to fall below a first threshold. The UE then expedites reselecting to the neighbor cell based on a difference between the signal quality of the serving cell and the signal quality of the neighbor cell when the signal quality of the serving cell falls below a second threshold.

Embodiments of the disclosure provide a method in a source node for transmitting data in an OFDM system in which data are transmitted on frequency bands from the source node to a destination node, the method comprising: selecting a set of frequency bands from available frequency bands in the OFDM system; and transmitting data in frequency domain on the selected set of frequency bands to the destination node. Embodiments of the disclosure further provide a method at a destination node for receiving data in an OFDM system in which data are received on frequency bands from a source node, the method comprising: determining a set of frequency bands of available frequency bands on which data are to be received in frequency domain; and receiving the data on the determined set of frequency bands from the source node. The present invention proposes a method, a radio base station and a wireless communication system for optimizing Inter-cell Interference Coordination, wherein a user equipment is communicated within a cell served by the radio base station, comprising: obtaining one or more channel conditions on the communication channel between the user equipment and the radio base station, establishing a utility function as a function of Signal to Interference-and-Noise Ratios SINRs to model the user equipment's satisfaction level in terms of quality of service and power consumption based on the obtained channel conditions, selecting a SINR that enables to maximize the value of the utility function as a target SINR, and determining a transmit power to be used by the user equipment as a function of the target SINR. Thus, a self-optimized inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) without X2 signaling between base stations is achieved and greedy power allocation is avoid.

Method, apparatus and system for optimizing inter-cell interference coordination

A method is provided for performing handover of at least a first User Equipment from a first cell to a second cell in case of failure of the first cell. The first cell is controlled by a first Remote Radio Unit connected to a Main unit, and the second cell is controlled by a second Remote Radio Unit connected to the Main Unit, and the second cell has the same or a larger coverage area as the first cell. The method comprises the steps of monitoring the state of the connection between the first Remote Radio Unit and the Main Unit, and sending handover information to the User Equipment through the second cell using resources assigned for control signalling in said first cell, if the state of the connection between said first Remote Radio Unit and said Main Unit indicates that said first Remote Radio Unit has ceased to be functional

The present application pertains to a dual mode radio base station that is operable to operate in either a TDD mode of operation or an FDD mode of operation. The dual mode base station may include a base-band unit (BU) and a radio unit (RU). The base-band unit may include (1) a first set of components each of which is configured to provide functionally while (a) the dual mode base station is operating in the FDD mode of operation and (b) the dual mode base station is operating in the TDD mode of operation; and (2) a second set of components each of which is configured to provide functionally (a) only while the dual mode base station is operating in the FDD mode of operation or (b) only while the dual mode base station is operating in the TDD mode of operation.

Signal quality measurement in a time division duplex system

A method () for use in a wireless communications system () with a first transceiver () and a second transceiver () which communicate with each other, which system is a TDD-system, with communication divided into time frames with time slots. According to the method, the first transceiver transmits () a dedicated signal for use as a communications quality indicator by the second transceiver, and the second transceiver reports () measurements of the dedicated signal to the first transceiver.
