A UV exposure dosimetry system includes at least one UV sensor that measures the UV irradiance intensity. The system can generate extrapolated UV intensity data based on measured UV intensity data to correct unreliable UV measurement due to inconsistent irradiation of UV light. The system integrates the extrapolated UV intensity data over time to calculate real-time UV dosage and vitamin D production by taking into account factors including UV sensor location, body surface area, clothing coverage, and sunscreen usage. Based on the measurement, the system can predict the time remaining to skin burn and the time remaining to reach daily goal of vitamin D production. The system is also adapted to measure sun exposure time based on the corrected UV intensity over a period of time. The UV dosimetry system supports multi-user control through an advanced and user friendly input and output interface.

An implantable pulse generator system includes a nerve stimulation unit providing vagal nerve stimulation (VNS) pulses; an autonomic tone sensor which determines the patient's autonomic status; and a control unit connected to the nerve stimulation unit and the autonomic tone sensor. The control unit controls the nerve stimulation unit to generate VNS with varying intensity, depending on the autonomic status (which is evaluated in a moving window). The control unit gradually increases VNS intensity when the autonomic status indicates a shift toward more sympathetic dominance, and it gradually decreases VNS intensity when the autonomic status indicates a shift toward more parasympathetic dominance, wherein the gradual increase and the gradual decrease of the VNS intensity follow two different paths.

Implantable pulse generator system and method for vagal nerve stimulation

An electronic device tracks both calorie loss and intake for a user. The device comprises a plurality of sensors to measure user's physical activities, and provides a user interface to allow user input of activities. The device tracks these activities and estimates the calorie burned based on predefined formulas. Also through the user interface, the device allows user to input information about food or drink consumption, and then estimates the corresponding calorie intake. User input of activities and food/drink consumption can be achieved by means of voice. The electronic device also runs a software app which can provide instructions for the user with regards to activities and/or food/drink consumption. In addition, the app allows user to enter weight, together with the tracked calorie intake and loss history data, to adaptively adjust the calorie calculation formulas and the associated parameters.

A spinal cord stimulation device having a stimulation unit for generation and delivery of stimulation pulses, a control unit for controlling the stimulation unit with respect to stimulation intensity and an autonomic nervous system ('ANS') sensing unit that is configured to generate ANS indicating signals that represent an increased sympathetic tone or an increased parasympathetic tone, respectively. A UV dosimetry system comprises a wearable unit and a mobile computing device. The wearable unit measures the UV irradiance intensity and wirelessly communicates with the mobile computing device. The UV dosimetry system processes the measured UV irradiance intensity to calculate the UV index (UVI) and the sensor site specific UV dose. A device that monitors and evaluates electrogram signals representing electric activities of a heart chamber, and includes a signal input connected to a mapping catheter, and a signal processing and evaluation unit. The mapping catheter includes one or more electrode poles that pick up electric potentials and generate electrogram signals therefrom.
