The present invention relates to a method of performing interpolation for prediction between screens by using a pixel sample of a current picture and a pixel sample of a reference picture, and a prediction method using same. The interpolation method according to the present invention includes: calculating movement information for generating a prediction block; and generating a partial pixel sample on the basis of an integer sample set including integer pixel samples to which an interpolation filter is applied. Here, the integer sample set includes at least one current integer sample used to generate a partial pixel sample among restored integer pixel samples of a current picture, and the partial pixel sample corresponds to the offset positions of a partial pixel unit from a predetermined reference pixel sample among integer pixel samples.

Interpolation method and prediction method using same

Video encoding and its corresponding decoding are disclosed. The video encoding incorporates: a predictor for predicting a pixel value of each pixel in a current block of the video to generate a predicted pixel value; a subtractor for calculating a difference between an original pixel value of the pixel in the current block and the predicted pixel value of the pixel in the current block to generate a residual signal; a transformer for transforming the residual signal into frequency coefficients; a quantizer for quantizing the transformed frequency coefficients; and an encoder for encoding the quantized frequency coefficients by using one of different variable length coding tables.

Video encoding and decoding apparatus and method

A conventional new video coding technology can provide a bitstream switching picture by encoding the bitstream switching picture into an I picture. However, an encoding efficiency is greatly reduced. As such, the new video coding technology does not provide an efficient bitstream switching function. Also, other advantages provided by a switching picture technology such as a random access, error durability, and a bitstream splicing are not provided. Provided is an apparatus for encoding a video bitstream including a base layer bitstream and an enhancement layer bitstream by encoding an enhancement layer picture of the enhancement layer bitstream, which is reproduced immediately after a base layer picture of the base layer bitstream is reproduced, into a non-switching pictures by interlayer prediction using a reference image generated by decoding a pre-encoded base layer picture or by motion prediction using another reference image generated by decoding a pre-encoded enhancement layer picture, and into a switching picture, which is decoded into the same image as the non-switching picture, by an interlayer prediction using the non-switching picture and a reference image generated by decoding a pre-encoded base layer picture, while the base layer picture is being reproduced.

Scalable video encoding and decoding method using switching pictures and apparatus thereof

Provided are a method for redundant slice coding by polyphase down-sampling (PD) and a codec using the method. An encoder for redundant slice coding by PD includes a PD coding unit rearranging a residual block that is a difference between a current block and a prediction block into four sections by performing PD on the residual block, a quantization transform unit transforming and quantizing at least one of the sections of the residual block, and a reference block generation unit generating a reference block based on a value obtained by performing inverse transform and inverse quantization, and then inverse PD on the at least one transformed and quantized section by the quantization transform unit.
