Provided is a dielectric body having a high dielectric constant and a change rate of the dielectric constant of 30% or less, in a temperature range from −50° C. to 350° C. An inorganic substance contains an oxide crystal including A and M (the A being one or more of P, Ge, and V, and the M being one or more of Nb and Ta), in which the dielectric constant is 500 or more. In the inorganic substance, the oxide crystal is one or more of PNbO, PNbO, GeNbO, GeNbO, GeNbO, VNbO, VNbO, PTaO, GeTaO, VTaO, and solid solutions thereof.

The invention provides a novel optical glass which has a refractive index (nd) of 1.78 to 2.2 and an Abbe value (&#x3bd;d) of 16 to less than 40 and is suitable for precision mold press molding by virtue of its having a low glass transition temperature, namely, an optical glass which contains by mole in terms of oxides 25 to 60% BO, 2 to 45% (in total) TiOand NbOand 1 to 25% WOand has a refractive index (nd) of 1.78 to 2.2 and an Abbe value (&#x3bd;d) of 16 to less than 40. Further, the glass contains 5 to 35% LaOand 1 to 40% ZnO and has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 700&#xb0; C. or below. The optical glass is excellent in meltability, stability and devitrification resistance and has a high refractive index, high light-dispersive power and excellent precision press moldability.

Optical glass

An optical glass is provided that includes a refractive index (n) of no less than 1.75 and an Abbe number (v) of no less than 10 as optical constants. A BiOcontent is no less than 10% by weight to no more than 80% by weight. The content of SiOis lower than the content of BO. The total content of SiO+BOis from no less than 1% by weight to no more than 60% by weight. The content of RO is from no less than 0.1% by weight to no more than 50% by weight. R represents one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Zn, Ba, Sr, Ca, and Mg. The optical glass has at least one of the properties of being substantially free from opacification and/or being substantially devitrified within the glass body under the conditions of a reheating testing.

The present invention provides optical glasses containing BiOin which the optical glasses have at least one of the properties of being substantially free from opacification and being substantially devitrified within the glass body during reheating steps in production processes, superior chemical durability, and free from black coloring. The optical glass has a refractive index (n) of no less than 1.75 and an Abbe number (&#x3bd;) of no less than 10 as optical constants. The optical glass contains BiOin a content from no less than 10% by weight to less than 90% by weight, and has at least one of the properties of being substantially free from opacification and being substantially devitrified within the glass body under the conditions of a reheating test (a).

A glass composition being suitable for precision mold press forming, having superior resistance to devitrification, having optical constants (a refractive index, an Abbe number, and the like) required for aspherical lenses, and a low glass transition temperature. There is provided an optical glass comprising no less than 5 mol % and no more than 60 mol % of a BOcomponent, and no less than 0.2 mol % and no more than 60 mol % of a TeOcomponent, by mol % on the basis of oxides. Further, there is provided an optical glass mentioned above having optical constants with a refractive index (n) of 1.80 to 2.20, and an Abbe number (&#x3bd;) of 16 to 40. Still further, there is provided an optical glass mentioned above having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of no more than 680&#xb0; C.

Optical glass having a refractive index (n) of 1.85 or greater, and an Abbe number (&#x3bd;) falling within the range of 10 to 30, which is suited for molding by precision mold press is provided. The optical glass is characterized by including BO+SiOin an amount of 3 to 60%, BiOin an amount of 25 to 80%, RO+RnO in an amount of 5 to 60% (wherein R represents one or more selected from a group consisting of Zn, Ba, Sr, Ca, and Mg; and Rn represents one or more selected from a group consisting of Li, Na, K, and Cs), with each component in the range expressed in oxide-based mole percentage, and is characterized in that transparency in the visible region is high, and that the transition point (Tg) is 480&#xb0; C. or lower. The optical glass is characterized by having a spectral transmittance of 70% or greater at a wavelength of 600 nm for a thickness of 10 mm.

The optical glass is characterized by including BO+SiOin an amount of 10 to 70%, BiOin an amount of 5% or more and less than 25%, RO+RnO in an amount of 5 to 60% (wherein R represents one or more selected from a group consisting of Zn, Ba, Sr, Ca, and Mg; and Rn represents one or more selected from a group consisting of Li, Na, K, and Cs), with each component in the range expressed in oxide-based mole, and is characterized in that transparency in the visible region is high, and that the transition point (Tg) is 520&#xb0; C. or lower. The optical glass is characterized by having a spectral transmittance of 70% or greater at a wavelength of 550 nm, for a thickness of 10 mm.

There are provided glass-ceramics having a high lithium ion conductivity which include in mol %: and contain Li(Al, Ga)Ti(PO)(where 0&#x3c;X&#x3c;0.8) as a main crystal phases. There are also provided glass-ceramics having a high lithium ion conductivity which include in mol %: and contain LiMTiSiPO(where 0&#x3c;X&#x2266;0.4 and 0&#x3c;Y&#x2266;0.6) as a main crystal phase. A solid electric cell includes a case, a negative electrode, a positive electrode and a solid electrolyte. The negative electrode, positive electrode and solid electrolyte are disposed in the case in such a manner that the negative electrode opposes the positive electrode through the solid electrolyte. The solid electrolyte is made of an alkali ion conductive glass-ceramic having ion conductivity no less than 10,S/cm at room temperature. A gas sensor includes a case, a negative electrode, a positive electrode, a solid electrolyte and a layer for which an electromotive force corresponding to the concentration of the gas is produced between the two electrodes. In the case, the negative electrode opposes the positive electrode through the solid electrolyte. The solid electrolyte is made of an alkali ion conductive glass-ceramic having ion conductivity no less than 10,S/cm at room temperature.

Long-lasting phosphorescent glasses and glass-ceramics have a composition containing 30-65 mol % SiO,and 20-50 mol % ZnO as basic ingredients and may also contain, as an activator or an auxiliary activator, 0-5 mol % Ln,O,where L n is an element or elements selected from the group consisting of Y, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu and Mn.
