Electronic displays and electronic devices including such electronic displays and antennas are provided for improved transmission of signals through circuitry of the electronic display. The electronic display may include multiple power supply tiles that are separated with non-conductive gaps to reduce circulation of eddy currents induced by the transmission signals. Moreover, voltage supply routing paths within the power supply tiles may be grouped to provide non-conductive gaps within the power supply tiles. Accordingly, the antenna may provide the transmission signals through the electronic display with improved efficiency based on reducing surface currents (e.g., eddy currents) on the electronic display.

Display and antenna co-design to reduce antenna transmission loss

A system may include an electronic display panel having pixels, where each pixel emits light based on a respective programming signal applied to the pixel. The system may also include processing circuitry to determine a respective control signal upon which the respective programing signal for each pixel is based. The processing circuitry may determine each respective control signal based at least in part on approximations of respective pixel brightness-to-data relationship as defined by a function having variables stored in memory accessible to the processing circuitry.

Dynamic uniformity compensation for electronic display

An electronic device may include an electronic display including display pixels to display an image based on compensated image data. The electronic display may also include a stressed reference pixel to exhibit burn-in related aging in response to one or more stress sessions and a non-stressed reference pixel configured to not undergo the one or more stress sessions. Additionally, the electronic device may include image processing circuitry to determine a panel-specific aging profile based on a comparison between one or more properties of the stressed reference pixel and the one or more properties of the non-stressed reference pixel. The image processing circuitry may also generate one or more gain maps based on the panel-specific aging profile and generate the compensated image data by applying the one or more gain maps to input image data.

Reference pixel stressing for burn-in compensation systems and methods

A method of adjusting a test gray voltages applied to a component of an electronic display during a test frame between image frames, wherein the adjustment is based at least in part on the control signal to the component during a prior image frame. The method may reduce hysteresis effects on the extraction of sensed currents of the component during the test frame, which may increase the accuracy and/or consistency of determined parameters evaluated from the sensed currents. The determined parameters may include temperature and/or aging of the component. The determined parameters may be used to adjust control signals for the component and other components in a region near the component during the next image frame.

Systems and methods of reducing hysteresis for display component control and improving parameter extraction

An electronic display having pixels and control circuitry to drive the pixels to display image data even during relatively long presentation times without visual artifacts, such as flicker, are provided. The control circuitry may cause the pixel to perform a threshold voltage sampling and pixel programming phase to store image data for the pixel while accounting for a first threshold voltage of the first transistor. Afterward, an on-bias stress phase may cause a threshold voltage of the first transistor of the plurality of transistors to reach a second threshold voltage. Following the on-bias stress phase, a first emission phase may cause the light-emitting diode to emit light in accordance with the image data, and subsequent on-bias stress phases and subsequent emission phases for the duration of the presentation time may take place without a visible flicker artifact.

Electronic display visual artifact mitigation

A display may include pixels (such as light-emitting diode pixels) that are susceptible aging effects (burn-in). To help avoid visible artifacts caused by burn-in during operation of the display, compensation circuitry may be used to compensate image data for the display. An optical sensor may be included behind the pixels to directly measure pixel brightness levels. The optical sensor may provide optical sensor data from testing operations to the compensation circuitry. The optical sensor may gather data during burn-in testing operations. During the burn-in testing operations, pixel groups including both high-usage pixels and low-usage pixels may sequentially emit light while the optical sensor gathers data. Brightness differences between the high-usage pixels and low-usage pixels may be used to characterize pixel aging in the display and compensate image data to mitigate visible artifacts caused by burn-in. The optical sensor may also gather data during global brightness testing operations.

A display may have an array of organic light-emitting diode display pixels. Each display pixel may include a drive transistor coupled in series with one or more emission transistors and a respective organic light-emitting diode (OLED). A semiconducting-oxide transistor may be coupled between a drain terminal and a gate terminal of the drive transistor to help reduce leakage during low-refresh-rate display operations. To compensate for variations in the threshold voltage of the semiconducting-oxide transistor, the magnitude of a high voltage level of a scan control signal provided to the gate terminal of the semiconducting-oxide transistor may be adjusted. Sensing circuitry may be used to sense a display current while displaying a calibration image. The sensed display current may be compared to an expected display current associated with the calibration image. Processing circuitry may update the high voltage level based on the actual display current compared to the expected display current.

Electronic devices having displays with compensation for oxide transistor threshold voltage

A display may have an array of pixels arranged in rows and columns. The pixels may be organic light-emitting diode pixels that each include an organic light-emitting diode and thin-film transistor circuitry for controlling the diode or may be other suitable display pixels. The pixels may form an active area of the display that displays images. Display driver circuitry may be provided in an inactive border area of the display. The display may include vertical gate lines. The display may also include data lines. The data lines may include vertical data line portions and orthogonal horizontal data line portions coupled to the vertical data line portions with vias. During operation, data from the display driver circuitry may be provided to rows of the pixels using the data lines while the vertical gate lines supply control signals to columns of the pixels.

Display having vertically driven gate and data paths

In situations with reduced image changes, display panels, such as the ones disclosed herein, may reduce their power consumption by performing self-refresh cycles, in which they may display locally stored data in the display panel instead of retrieving it from an image buffer. Methods and circuitry for management of the self-refresh cycle may reduce jitter, luminance errors, and/or flickers that may be caused by untimely self-refresh cycles that may occur as a result of latency in the image buffer. In some implementations, the display panel may have a dedicated low latency input that notifies an arrival of an incoming image. In some implementations, the self-refresh cycles of the panel may be managed by a host or a buffer that is responsible for sending the images.

Collision avoidance schemes for displays

Electronic devices, storage medium containing instructions, and methods pertain to determining a target boosted threshold voltage level based at least in part on a target emission threshold voltage level. Using the determined target boosted threshold voltage level, a light emitting diode (LED)-controlling transistor is submitted to voltage stress to boost a threshold voltage of the transistor to the target boosted threshold voltage level during a first portion of a refresh period between first and second emission periods. During a second portion of the refresh period, the voltage stress is de-asserted to settle the threshold voltage to a target emission threshold voltage level for the second emission period. After the voltage is settled, the LED-controlling transistor is driven based at least in part on the target emission threshold voltage level.

Threshold voltage hysteresis compensation

A touch sensor panel is disclosed. The touch sensor panel can include a plurality of touch nodes, the plurality of touch nodes including a first set of touch nodes and a second set of touch nodes, different from the first set of the touch nodes. In some examples, sense circuitry can be configured to, during a first scan, sense a first combined touch signal of the first set of the touch nodes, and during a second scan, sense a second combined touch signal of the second set of the touch nodes. A touch processor can be configured to determine a touch image at the plurality of touch nodes based on the first and second combined touch signals.

Compressive touch sensing

A display may have curved edges such as rounded corners. Pixels in the display may be controlled so that the active area of the display has the desired curved edge shape. In order to maximize the apparent smoothness of the curved edge, the display may include circuitry that dims some of the pixels based on their location relative to a spline for the curved edge. The display circuitry may include a multiplication circuit that receives image data as a first input and dimming factors from a gain table as a second input. The image data may include a brightness level for each pixel in the array of pixels. The multiplication circuit may multiply the brightness level for each pixel by its respective dimming factor. This modified image data may then be supplied to the imaging pixels using display driver circuitry.
