There is provided a coating formulation comprising an inorganic oxygen scavenger, a surfactant, an activator, a hydrophilic agent, optionally an additive and a plurality of monomers capable of forming a polymeric matrix, and a method to prepare the same. There is also provided an article comprising an inorganic scavenger, a surfactant, an activator, a hydrophilic agent and optionally an additive dispersed within a polymeric matrix, and a method to prepare the same.

Coating formulation, an article and methods to prepare the same

There is provided a composite material comprising a porous silica particle, a plurality of metal particles disposed within the pores of said silica particle and a polymeric coating that at least partially encapsulates said silica particle. There is also provided a method of preparing a composite material, comprising the step of mixing a solution containing a plurality of activated metal and silica particles with a polymer solution to thereby form said composite material, wherein said composite material comprises a porous silica particle, a plurality of metal particles disposed within the pores of said silica particle and a polymeric coating that at least partially encapsulates said silica particle.

Composite material and a method of preparing the same

A method of forming one or more composite structures is provided wherein one or more carbon structures is formed from a carbon source via a hydrothermal process. Said carbon source is a biomass material including glucose and glucosamine hydrochloride. In particular, the method further comprises introducing a seeding additive of potassium or phosphate salt, preferably monopotassium phosphate to the carbon source. The method includes introducing iron onto the carbon structures to form the one or more composite structures including carbon and iron.

Composite structure and method of forming the same

A method for forming gold nanowires on a substrate is provided. The method includes a) attaching noble metal nanoparticles onto the substrate; and b) contacting the noble metal nanoparticles with an aqueous solution comprising a ligand, gold ions and a reducing agent, wherein the ligand is an organic compound having a thiol group. Gold nanowires formed by a method according to the method, and an electronic device comprising the gold nanowires are also provided.
