In the present invention there is provided an MnOelectrode with improved electrochemical properties, and a method of preparation of an electrode, wherein there anode comprises a substrate at least partially coated with MnOnanosheets (MnNSs) forming additive free MnOthin films. The method includes providing MnOnanosheets (MnNSs) suspension with diameters less than 50 nm; printing the MnNSs suspension on substrates to form MnOthin films (MnTFs); and annealing the MnTFs at 260-320&#xb0; C. for at least 100 minutes. Energy storage device comprising the MnOelectrode such as a Na-ion cell, and a Li-ion cell are also described.

MnOanode for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries

In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to an improved method of preparing concentrated MnOink with increased efficiency and cost effectiveness. The method involves mixing KMnOsolution with highly crystalline carbon particles (HCCPs) with average diameters less than 800 nm at 30-60&#xb0; C. for at least 8 hours. The present disclosure further relates to a symmetric supercapacitor device comprising MnOcoated electrodes and a solid state ionic liquid as electrolyte, as well as an interdigital transparent SC (IT-SC) device comprising aqueous MnOink.
