Systems and methods for continuous insects sensing are described. One example method includes receiving a flow at a singulator, the flow comprising one or more insects; singulating the insects into a single-file flow of insects; sensing, using a sensor, insects within the single-file flow of insects; and incrementing a counter based on each sensed insects in the single-file flow of insects. One example system includes a channel defining a flow path for a flow of insects; a singulator positioned within the flow path and arranged to receive the flow of insects within the channel, the singulator configured to singulate the insects into a single-file flow of insects; a sensor positioned and arranged to sense insects in the single-file flow; and a processor in communication with the sensor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium, the processor configured to execute processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to receive sensor signals from the sensor; and count a number of insects based on the received sensor signals.

Systems and methods for continuous insect sensing

A system includes an acoustic lure and a sensor package disposed within an interior volume of an insect trapping container and a computing device in communication with the acoustic lure and the sensor package configured to instruct the acoustic lure to output an acoustic tone. The computer device is further configured to receive sensor data from the sensor package, the sensor data representative of insects within the interior volume. Responsive to receiving the sensor data, the computing device is configured to instruct an imaging device to capture image data representative of the insects within the interior volume or determine insect count data based on the sensor data. The computing device is configured to then transmit output data to a remote computing system, the output data including at least one of a first portion of the image data or a second portion of the insect count data.

Lures and sensors for insect trapping

An insect trapping system includes an enclosed container having an entrance hole formed in a vertical wall and an acoustic lure device located within the container. The enclosed container may be formed from a transparent material. The system may also include a support stand, formed from a dark-colored material, and used to support the container.

Systems and methods for continuous insect pupae sensing are described. Systems and methods for continuous insect pupae sensing

This document describes techniques and devices for detecting twist input with an interactive cord. An interactive cord may be constructed with one or more conductive yarns wrapped around a cable in a first direction (e.g., clockwise), and one or more conductive yarns wrapped around the cable in a second direction that is opposite the first direction (e.g., counter-clockwise). A controller measures one or more capacitance values associated with the conductive yarns. In response to detecting a change in the one or more capacitance values, the controller determines that the change in the capacitance values corresponds to twist input caused by the user twisting the interactive cord. Then, the controller initiates one or more functions based on the twist input, such as by controlling audio to a headset by increasing or decreasing the volume, scrolling through menu items, and so forth.

Detecting twist input with an interactive cord

One example system for insect detection includes a block of material defining a transit opening and a sensing opening, the transit opening defined along a first axis in a first direction, and the sensing opening defined to provide a light path to traverse a cross-section of the transit opening; a light emitter positioned at a first end of the sensing opening and oriented to project light through the sensing opening and across the transit opening; and a plurality of light detectors positioned at a second end of the sensing opening and oriented to receive the projected light and to output detector signals based on an amount of detected light.

Systems and methods for insect detection

One example insect sensing system includes a light emitter configured to emit light; a structured light generator positioned to receive the emitted light and configured to generate structured light from the emitted light; a plurality of light sensors arranged in a line, each of the light sensors oriented to receive at least a portion of the structured light and output a sensor signal indicating an amount of light received by the respective light sensor; a processing device configured to: obtain the sensor signals from each of the light sensors, and determine a presence of an insect based a received sensor signal from at least one light sensor, the sensor signal indicating a reduced amount of received light by the at least one light sensor. Another example insect sensing system includes a camera comprising an image sensor and a lens having an aperture of f/2.8 or wider; and a processor configured to obtain an image from the camera and detect an insect in the image.

Insect sensing systems and methods

A sensor cord construction to prevent capacitance variation is described herein. A sensor may be connected to a controller via a cord that includes a first cable and a second cable. The first cable includes first shield wires that are twisted around the first cable in a first direction, and the second cable includes second shield wires that are twisted around the second cable in a second direction that is opposite the first direction. When the cord is twisted, one of the first or second cables may provide a positive capacitance variation, while the other of the first or second cables may provide a negative capacitance variation in an amount that is directly proportional to the positive capacitance variation. Thus, the controller detects a minimum capacitance variation, when the cord is twisted, due to the capacitance variation of the first cable and the second cable canceling each other out.

Sensor cord construction to prevent capacitance variation

The present application describes on-head detection by a capacitive sensing bone conduction transducer (BCT) system and applications thereof. An example apparatus includes a wearable computing device comprising: (1) the BCT comprising a transducer coupled to a BCT frame, wherein (a) the BCT frame couples the BCT to a component of the wearable computing device, (b) at least a portion of the BCT frame is conductive, wherein the conductive portion of the BCT frame is arranged to capacitively couple the BCT to a wearer when the wearable computing device is worn, and (c) the BCT is configured to receive and be driven by an audio signal; (2) a capacitive sensor controller; and (3) at least one connective component that further couples the conductive portion of the BCT frame to the capacitive sensor controller.
