Polymer compositions and films are provided. The polymer compositions include (A) 10-50 wt % heterogeneously branched Ziegler-Natta-catalyzed LLDPE polymer having a composition distribution breadth index (CBDI) &#x3c;50.0%; and (B) 90-50 wt % metallocene-catalyzed LLDPE polymer having melt index 0.5 g/10 min to 5.0 g/10 min; melt index ratio from 20 to 40; weight average molecular weight (Mw) of from 20,000 to 200,000 g/mol; a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) from 2.0 to 4.5; density 0.910 to 0.925 g/cm; CDBI less than 35.0%; and comonomer distribution such that a first peak and a second peak in a comonomer distribution analysis, wherein the first peak has a maximum at a log(Mw) value of 4.3 to 4.7 and a TREF elution temperature of 85.0&#xb0; C. to 95.0&#xb0; C. and the second peak has a maximum at a log(Mw) value of 5.1 to 5.6 and a TREF elution temperature of 60.0&#xb0; C. to 70.0&#xb0; C.

Polymer blends and articles made therefrom

Polymer compositions including (A) 15.0 to 90.0 wt % of a heterogeneously branched ethylene polymer having polymer units derived from at least one C-Calpha-olefin and having a CBDI&#x3c;50.0%; and (B) 85.0 to 10.0 wt. % of an ethylene-based polymer and films made therefrom are disclosed.

The present invention relates to a branched modifier and a composition comprising more than 25 wt % (based on the weight of the composition) of one or more linear ethylene polymers having a g'of 0.97 or more and an Mw of 20,000 g/mol or more and at least 0.1 wt % of a branched modifier where the modifier has a) a g&#x2032;of 0.70 or less; b) an Mw of 100,000 g/mol or more; c) an Mw/Mn of 4.0 or more; d) a shear thinning ratio of 110 or more, e) a melt strength of 10 cN or more; f) a complex viscosity at 0.1 rad/sec at 190&#xb0; C. of at least 130,000 Pa&#xb7;s; and g) a phase angle of Z&#xb0; or less where Z=138.3G*, where G* is the complex modulus reported in Pascals measured at 190&#xb0; C. and the phase angle units are reported in degrees, wherein the G* is from 1,000 to 1,000,000 Pa.

Modified polyethylene compositions with enhanced melt strength

A crack-resistant article comprising a diene terpolymer, the diene terpolymer comprising (or consisting essentially of) from 0.01 wt % to 10.0 wt % diene derived units, and 1.0 wt % to 20 wt % of Cto C&#x3b1;-olefin derived units based on the weight of the diene terpolymer, wherein the diene terpolymer: a) has a g'of less than 0.90; b) has an Mw within a range of from 100,000 g/mol to 500,000 g/mol; c) has an Mw/Mn within the range of from 3.5 to 12.0; and d) an Mz/Mn of greater than 7.0. Inventive articles comprise a blend of a relatively high density linear polyethylene and the diene terpolymer.

Crack-resistant polyethylene compositions

A foamable or foamed article comprising a diene terpolymer, the diene terpolymer comprising (or consisting essentially of) from 0.01 wt % to 10.0 wt % diene derived units, and 1.0 wt % to 20 wt % of Cto C&#x3b1;-olefin derived units based on the weight of the diene terpolymer, wherein the diene terpolymer: a) has a g'of less than 0.90; b) has an Mw within a range of from 100,000 g/mol to 500,000 g/mol; c) has an Mw/Mn within the range of from 3.5 to 12.0; and d) an Mz/Mn of greater than 7.0. Inventive articles comprise a blend of a relatively high density linear polyethylene and the diene terpolymer.

Foamed polyethylene compositions

A method of forming a blown film comprising extruding a molten composition through a die opening to form a film; wherein the molten composition comprises at least one polyethylene and within the range from 0.10 wt % to 10 wt % of a cyclic-diene terpolymer by weight of the composition; causing the film to progress in a direction away from the die opening; cooling the film at a distance from the die opening, the distance adjusted to effect the properties of the film; and isolating a blown film therefrom.

Cyclic-diene additives in polyethylene films and enhanced film orientation balance in production thereof

A method of forming a finished film comprising extruding a molten polyethylene comprising a diene terpolymer modifier through a die opening to form a film, wherein the diene-terpolymer modifier is a terpolymer comprising ethylene-derived units, Cto C&#x3b1;-olefin derived units, and diene-derived units; causing the film to progress in a direction away from the die opening; cooling the film at a distance from the die opening, the distance adjusted to allow relaxation of the molten polyethylene prior to solidification and/or crystallization upon cooling; and isolating a finished film therefrom. Desirably, the polyethylene is a linear low density polyethylene, and the die and cooling is suitable for forming a blown film.

Polyethylene films and production of such films

This disclosure relates to films particularly suitable for stretch hood applications. More particularly, this disclosure relates to multi-layer films particularly suitable for stretch hood applications comprising an inner layer that includes a blend of a propylene-based elastomer and a polyethylene having long-chain branching.

Polyolefin films

A polyethylene composition including the product of the combination of at least one copolymer made from units derived from at least 85 wt % ethylene and a Cto C&#x3b1;-olefin and from 0.10 wt % to 10 wt % of a cyclic-diene terpolymer is provided.

Polyethylene compositions

A dynamically vulcanized alloy containing an elastomer and a thermoplastic resin is prepared by a process wherein supercritical fluid is injected into the thermoplastic elastomeric material as the material is mixed in an extruder. The material is mixed under conditions such that the thermoplastic elastomeric material is dynamically vulcanized wherein the elastomer forms a discontinuous dispersed of small particles in a continuous phase of the thermoplastic resin. The DVA material may then be directly formed into film or sheets by the use of at least one set of rolls located adjacent to the extruder outlet.

Dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer film

The present invention relates to a branched modifier and a composition comprising more than 25 wt % (based on the weight of the composition) of one or more linear ethylene polymers having a g'of 0.97 or more and an Mof 20,000 g/mol or more and at least 0.1 wt % of a branched modifier where the modifier has a g&#x2032;of less than 0.97, wherein the ethylene polymer has a g&#x2032;of at least 0.01 units higher than the g&#x2032;of the branched modifier.
