In an example method, a first device determines a first Zadoff-Chu sequence having a first root value, and a second Zadoff-Chu sequence having a second root value, where the second root value is an inverse modulus of the first root value. Further, the first device generates a wireless signal including (i) a first preamble generated based, at least in part, on the first Zadoff-Chu sequence, (ii) a second preamble generated based, at least in part, on the second Zadoff-Chu sequence, and (iii) a payload. Further, the first device transmits the wireless signal from the first device to a second device.

Systems, methods, and mechanisms for performing ROHC header compression on TCP packets with MPTCP option enabled. A compressor may determine that a first portion of the stream of data packets is formatted according to the transmission control protocol (TCP) with a multipath TCP (MPTCP) option enabled. The compressor may establish context with a corresponding decompressor and may operate in one of three modes of compression based on the context. In some embodiments, when the context indicates that the corresponding decompressor supports decompression of TCP data packets with MPTCP option enabled, the compressor may operate in a first or second mode of compression. In some embodiments, when the context indicates that the corresponding decompressor does not support decompression of TCP data packets with MPTCP option enabled, the compressor may operation in a third mode of compression.

Some embodiments relate to a user equipment device (UE), and associated methods for performing ROHC header compression on TCP packets with MPTCP option enabled. In some embodiments, a compressor may determine that a first portion of the stream of data packets is formatted according to the transmission control protocol (TCP) with a multipath TCP (MPTCP) option enabled. The compressor may establish context with a corresponding decompressor and may operate in one of three modes of compression based on the context. Apparatuses, systems, and methods for user equipment (UE) devices to perform more efficient frequency scans for potential base stations. According to techniques described herein, the UE may determine that it does not have cellular service and determine first information based on a last camped cell. A time period during which the first information was acquired may be determined and one or more frequency scans may be performed. The frequency scans may be limited to a set of frequencies based in part on the time period. Thus, if the time period is less than a first value, the set of frequencies may include a first set of frequencies and if the time period is greater than the first value but less than a second value, the set of frequencies may include the first set of frequencies and a second set of frequencies.

This disclosure relates to techniques for efficient idle mode wakeup for wireless devices supporting an enhanced coverage mode and a normal coverage mode in a wireless communication system. A wireless device may camp on a cellular base station in idle mode. The wireless device may monitor a control channel associated with the normal coverage mode during a paging occasion. The wireless device may also monitor a control channel associated with the enhanced coverage mode during the paging occasion if a paging indication is not successfully decoded on the control channel associated with the normal coverage mode.

Efficient paging and idle mode wakeup for wireless devices supporting coverage enhanced mode

Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment (UE) device to adaptively enhance the quality of service (QoS) configuration of a bearer of communications conducted over a cellular network between a UE application and a server. The UE may use various information, including a QoS profile associated with the application, to determine requested QoS parameters and/or whether the UE is permitted to request or access enhanced QoS functionality. The UE may then send a request to the cellular network indicating the requested QoS parameters, and the network may adjust the QoS configuration of the bearer in response. The UE and the network may perform routine QoS measurements and exchange information in order to adaptively maintain and optimize the QoS configuration. These techniques may tend to provide more appropriate QoS to the application, which may improve user experience.

Adaptive quality of service for latency-sensitive applications

Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment (UE) device to adaptively provide enhanced the quality of service (QoS) for an application. The UE may request a dedicated bearer or flow for communications conducted over a network between a UE application and a server associated with the application. The UE may use various information, including a QoS profile associated with the application, to determine requested QoS parameters and/or determine whether to provide the enhanced QoS functionality, e.g., whether to request the dedicated bearer/flow from the network. These techniques may tend to provide more appropriate QoS to the application, which may improve user experience.

UE assistance application detection and policy control in QoS deployment

A user equipment device (UE) may implement improved communication methods which include radio resource time multiplexing, dynamic sub-frame allocation, and UE transmit duty cycle control. The UE may communicate with base stations using radio frames that include multiple sub-frames, transmit information regarding allocation of a portion of the sub-frames of a respective radio frame for each of a plurality of the radio frames, and transmit and receive data using allocated sub-frames and not using unallocated sub-frames. Additionally, the UE may operate according to a sub-frame allocation based on its current power state. The UE may transmit information to the base station and receive the sub-frame allocation based on at least the information and switch transmit duty cycles based on an occurrence of a condition at the UE. The UE may inform the network of the switch.

Apparatus and methods to improve compatibility between a primary wireless device including multiple subscriber identity modules (SIMs) and a cellular capable secondary wireless device are disclosed. The cellular capable secondary wireless device pairs with the primary wireless device, which provides a configurable option to allow mobile terminated connections and/or messages to be received at the cellular capable secondary wireless device for multiple SIMs when the cellular capable secondary wireless device is not within proximity of the primary wireless device and is being worn. The primary wireless device indicates conditional forwarding to a second wireless network associated with a second SIM and adjusts notification alerts to reduce time for forwarding when the cellular capable secondary wireless device is separated from the primary wireless device and in use.

This disclosure relates to energy budgeted cellular service recovery techniques. A wireless device may determine one or more energy budgets for service recovery. It may be determined that cellular service loss is currently occurring. Cellular service recovery may be attempted, where service recovery scan timing for the attempt to recover cellular service is determined based at least in part on the one or more energy budgets for service recovery.

In some embodiments, an apparatus is configured to wirelessly communicate with a base station using a first retransmission parameter in a first frame transmission scheme. In some embodiments, the apparatus is configured to determine a current performance metric and, based on the current performance metric, use a second, different retransmission parameter in a second frame transmission scheme for subsequent communications. In some embodiments, the retransmission parameter is a number of retransmissions or a number of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) processes.

A compressor may obtain information indicative of a transmit delay representative of a time duration that elapses between creation (e.g. by the compressor) of a packet and the transmission of the packet, e.g. over a wireless link. The transmit delay may be determined based at least on information indicative of the uplink capacity of the cellular network. The method is performed at a device that is configured to establish a first connection to a first network and configured to establish a second connection to a second network. When the connectivity status indicates that the device has established the first connection, the method includes utilizing a camp-only mode to monitor the second network, the camp-only mode reducing a frequency of at least one type of operation associated with the second network, the camp-only mode configured to retain a capability of determining whether an emergency message is being broadcast over the second network.

When the number is at least a predetermined threshold, the method includes identifying the network connection as being in a high power state. The method includes activating settings when the network connection is in the high power state, the settings reducing a usage of the operations over the network connection.
