An endoscope including: an optical filter arrangement having: a holder; and an optical filter having one of different filter properties in different directions or multiple optical filters with different filter properties, the optical filter being arranged in the holder to rotate about an axis of rotation in at least one beam path of the endoscope in a direction of light incidence in or behind an objective of the endoscope and in front of an image capturing unit or an eyepiece; wherein the optical filter arrangement is configured to change from a first filter property to a second filter property when the optical filter is rotated by 90° about the axis of rotation from a first target rotational position to a second target rotational position.

A stereo endoscope including: a shaft; and an objective lens including: a distal objective lens portion, where beam paths of right and left partial images extend through common optical components; a proximal objective lens portion, where the beam paths of the right and left partial images extend through separate optical components; and a transition portion, where the beam paths of the right and left partial images, which emerge from the distal objective lens portion at an angle to one another, are aligned parallel to one another; the transition portion comprises a lateral spreading arrangement including optical components for increasing a distance between the beam paths of the right and left partial images; and the lateral spreading arrangement is configured to laterally spread the beam paths of the right and left partial images asymmetrically in relation to an optical axis of the distal objective lens portion.

An optical system including: a distal optical assembly; a proximal optical assembly; and an image sensor; wherein the distal and proximal optical assemblies define a beam path; the distal optical assembly couples incident beams of light from a field of view located in an object space in the proximal optical assembly; the proximal optical assembly directs the incident beams of light onto a light-sensitive surface of the image sensor; and at least one of the distal and proximal optical assemblies comprise, at least one prism arranged in the beam path, such that the at least one prism limits the field of view of the optical system on at least one side.
