Processes for transforming an inert metal component into an active metal catalyst are provided. Apparatus and methods using active metal catalyst prepared according the process described herein are also provided.

Activation of inert metal components to catalysts

A reforming catalyst with improved surface area is provided by using high surface area alumina doped with a stabilizer metal as a catalyst support. The surface area of the catalyst can be higher than a typical reforming catalyst, and the surface area can also be maintained under high temperature operation. This can allow use of the catalyst for reforming in a higher temperature environment while maintaining a higher surface area, which can allow for improved dispersion and/or activity of an active metal such as rhodium on the catalyst support. The catalyst can be suitable for production of syngas from natural gas or other hydrocarbon-containing feeds.

Reforming catalyst

Adsorbent materials including a porous material support and about 0.5 wt. % to about 30 wt. % of a Group 8 metal ion are provide herein. Methods of making the adsorbent material and processes of using the adsorbent material, e.g., for heteroatom species separation, are also provided herein.

Adsorbent for heteroatom species removal and uses thereof

This invention relates to the composition, method of making and use of a hydrocracking catalyst that is comprised of a new Y zeolite which exhibits an exceptionally low small mesoporous peak around the 40 &#x212b; (angstrom) range as determined by nitrogen adsorption measurements. The hydrocracking catalysts of invention exhibit improved distillate yield and selectivity as well as improved conversions at lower temperatures than conventional hydrocracking catalysts containing Y zeolites. The hydrocracking catalysts herein are particularly useful in the hydrocracking processes as disclosed herein, particularly for conversion of heavy hydrocarbon feedstocks such as gas oils and vacuum tower bottoms and an associated maximization and/or improved selectivity of the distillate yield obtained from such hydrocracking processes.

Mesoporous Y hydrocracking catalyst and associated hydrocracking processes

This invention relates to the composition, method of making and use of a fluidized catalytic cracking ('FCC') catalyst that is comprised of a new Y zeolite which exhibits an exceptionally low small mesoporous peak around the 40 &#x212b; (angstrom) range as determined by nitrogen adsorption measurements. FCC catalysts made from this new zeolite exhibit improved rates of heavy oil cracking heavy oil bottoms conversions and gasoline conversions. The fluidized catalytic cracking catalysts herein are particularly useful in fluidized catalytic cracking ('FCC') processes for conversion of heavy hydrocarbon feedstocks such as gas oils and vacuum tower bottoms.
