A method and apparatus is provided for encoding/decoding an image in a process of transmission. A plurality of frequency bands are divided into different frequency zones; a scaling value is assigned for each frequency zone; a scaling matrix is established with coefficients comprising the scaling values for the different frequency zones; wherein a number of the frequency zones is smaller than a number of coefficients in the matrix, and each frequency zone corresponds to one scaling value in the coefficient matrix such that every coefficient in said each frequency zone has the same scaling value that is assigned to said frequency bands; and corresponding quantization/dequantization is performed in process of encoding/decoding respectively using the scaling matrix.

Quantization method and apparatus in encoding/decoding

A method for decoding and reconstructing a QM associated with a picture, wherein the method comprises acquiring at least one reference QM and at least one weighting factor associated with the reference QM, wherein the reference QM is a previously decoded QM, and computing a predicted matrix using the reference QM and the weighting factor associated with the reference QM, wherein the predicted matrix is used to reconstruct the QM. In another embodiment, a method for encoding a QM associated with a picture, wherein the method comprises acquiring a first QM reference and a second QM reference, acquiring a first weighting factor that corresponds to the first QM reference and a second weighting factor that corresponds to the second QM reference, obtaining the predicted QM using the first QM reference, the second QM reference, the first weighting factor, and the second weighting factor.

Weighted prediction method and apparatus in quantization matrix coding

An apparatus at an encoding end and an apparatus at decoding end are provided for implementing quantization in encoding and decoding an image in a process of transmission. The apparatus at an encoding end includes a memory storage and a processor coupled to the memory that executes the instructions to perform quantization using a coefficient matrix on an image, the coefficient matrix having a plurality of coefficients which being divided into a plurality of frequency bands, wherein a number of the frequency bands is smaller than a number of coefficients in the coefficient matrix; a scaling value is assigned that every coefficient in said each frequency band has the same scaling value; generate a parameter set having multiple band parameters thereof and write the parameter set into a bitstream to be transmitted. An apparatus at a decoding end performs decoding process thereof.

An approach is provided for providing user-corrected search results. Method and apparatus for providing user-corrected search results

A method for realizing adaptive quantization in image encoding and dequantization in image decoding is disclosed. In the adaptive quantization method, an image to be encoded is divided into one or more blocks, and each block is transformed to obtain one or more transform coefficients, the method comprising: acquiring parameter information of neighbor blocks of a current block; determining a quantization mode for the current block according to the parameter information of the neighbor blocks; and quantizing transform coefficients of the current block in the determined quantization mode. The quantization mode includes at least one of quantization matrix, quantization parameter and quantization step.

Method and apparatus for realizing adaptive quantization in process of image coding

A method and apparatus is provided for implementing quantization in encoding/decoding. Firstly, the quantization on the picture transformed coefficient matrix is performed using a quantization parameter model, that is, the coefficient matrix is modeled as a parameter model represented by only several parameters, in which the parameter model includes two sorts of parameters, frequency band distribution parameters and frequency band weighting parameters. Thus, a quantization matrix conforming to the human vision system can be obtained by controlling the model parameters and the subjective quality of the encoded picture can be easily controlled. Secondly, the method does not need to store or transfer the quantization matrix in the bitstream which help to improve the encoding efficiency. Finally, the quantization on picture transformed coefficients using the method is well adapted to the content information of the picture to be encoded. Therefore, the present invention can improve the subjective quality of the encoded picture.

A method and apparatus for realizing adaptive quantization in the process of image/video coding, which includes the following steps: acquiring the parameter information of the neighbor blocks of the current block; determining the quantization mode of the current block according to the parameter information of the neighbor blocks; and performing quantization processing on transform coefficients of the current block by using the determined quantization mode. Wherein, block coding type and motion vector of the neighbor blocks are used as the parameter information for determining the quantization mode of the current block. An apparatus for adaptive quantization in process of image/video coding is provided. The invention can use different quantization mode for adaptive quantization in different image content of an image sequence, thereby improving the subjective quality of the compressed images at the same bit rate.
