An impact mill using hammers to strike particles and reduce their size as the material progresses through a grinding chamber. Baffles are provided in the grinding chamber, adjacent the interior wall thereof, concentrically about the drive shaft of the mill. The baffles are adjacent to the hammers in the area of hammer sweep and form a path for the material using the flow of air through the mill and the swing of hammers to keep material from falling within the mill and remaining in the hammer sweep area. A variable speed motor varies the rate of movement of the hammers to increase or decrease the rate of strike of hammers to more efficiently and effectively reduce the material passing therethrough. The baffles can be retrofit into existing mills and can be created in angular sections with the lining of the grinding chamber for modular installation and removal.

High efficiency impact mill

A planetary roller mill for processing a feed material includes a vessel with a grinding ring having an opening therethrough and a first area. The grinding ring is in sealing engagement with the inside surface of the vessel assembly. At least two non-circular support plates are secured to a rotatable shaft. Each plate has an axially facing surface. A plurality of rollers rotatably are mounted to and positioned between the two support plates. Each of the plurality of rollers are in grinding communication with the grinding surface. The planetary roller mill includes an air supply system having an outlet in communication with the opening in the grinding ring. Areas of the two support plates are of magnitudes which configure a flow area through the opening of at least 30 percent of the first area to provide a predetermined quantity of heated air to remove moisture from the feed material in the grinding assembly.

A bowl mill for producing coarse ground particles has a substantially closed body, a bowl assembly, a plurality of grinding rolls, and a coarse particle transport enabling area. The substantially closed body has an interior area. The bowl assembly includes a rotatable grinding table mounted for rotation in a direction of rotation in the interior area. The grinding table has a grinding surface thereon. The plurality of grinding rolls are positioned proximate the grinding surface. The grinding rolls and the grinding surface define a grinding area therebetween. The coarse particle transport enabling area is located radially outward from the grinding area. The coarse particle transport enabling area is configured to allow the coarse particles to freely exit the grinding area and to mitigate the coarse particles from being circulated back into the grinding area.

A hammeris provided for a material size-reducing machine of the type including a rotor on which the hammer is individually pivotally mounted. The hammerincludes a mounting endhaving a throughbore for receiving a pivot pin therethrough in connection with the pivot mounting of the hammer on the rotor, an extending portionwith the center of mass CGM located therein. The extending portion has a non-linear body portionand a linear body portionwith the linear body portionbeing inclined in a direction opposite to the rotation direction at an angle between 5 to 45 degrees as measured relative to a line RFL extending through the center of the pivot pin and the center of mass CGM of the hammer.

A high efficiency bowl mill () is provided by the present invention. Included in the high efficiency bowl mill () is a plow () that is downstream of a grinding roll () on a grinding surface (). The plow () loosens material that has been compacted by the grinding roll (). Also included is a deflector () that redirects an air stream so as to pick up material loosened by the plow () and deposit material requiring further grinding. An outlet () of an inverted cone () is positioned so as to deposit material for pulverization on the grinding surface () and to restrict the air stream from entering the inverted cone ().

High efficiency bowl mill

A two-stage dynamic classifier (') for classifying a pulverized feed material () entrained in an air flow () includes a vertically extending housing having a lower feed material inlet (18), an upper feed material outlet (), a processing section (&#x2032;) disposed between the feed material inlet and the feed material outlet, and a lower tailings discharge (). A classifier conditioner () is disposed in a lower portion of the processing section and a turbine classifier () is disposed in an upper portion of the processing section.

High efficiency two-stage dynamic classifier

A hybrid turbine classifier for a coal pulverizer includes a cone disposed within the separator body of the pulverizer. The cone extends downwardly from a base to a frustum which forms an opening for depositing coal particles on the grinding table of the pulverizer. The outer surface of the cone and the separator body define an outer passage for coal/air flow, containing a mixture of smaller and larger coal particles, from the grinding table. A circular, first classifier cage disposed proximate to the base of the cone defines a circumferential passage between the outer passage and the cavity of the cone. The first classifier cage includes static, circumferentially-spaced vanes which direct the coal/air flow in a spiraling, circular flow path within the cavity. The flow path defines a first flow direction. A circular, second classifier cage is coaxially disposed within the first classifier cage. The second classifier cage includes a rotor which is rotatable around the axis and which defines a circumferential outlet from the cavity. The rotor has circumferentially-spaced blades directing the coal/air flow in a second flow direction opposite to the first flow direction. The vanes of the first classifier cage define a static vane angle selected to direct the coal/air flow tangentially to the blades of the second classifier cage.
