Cell selection by a service group is disclosed. A user equipment (UE) determines that a first cellular service of a plurality of cellular services is desired. The UE accesses service group information that correlates a plurality of service groups to a plurality of cells, wherein each service group is associated with one or more cellular services. The UE initiates a first connection with a first cell of the plurality of cells that can provide the first cellular service based at least in part on the service group information.

A base station for performing admission control at a service level is provided. The base station includes a communication interface configured to receive a bearer message for a service. The base station includes a processor configured to, in response to receiving the bearer message, determine a plurality of bearers required to support the service. The processor is further configured to determine whether to admit all of the determined plurality of bearers, and in response to determining to admit all of the determined plurality of bearers, admit the service with all of the determined plurality of bearers.

Service aware admission control

Systems and methods relating to direct bit rate adaptation for end-to-end communication via a cellular communications network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of operation of a radio access node in a cellular communications network includes obtaining a bit rate associated with a radio bearer between the radio access node and a wireless device. The radio bearer between the radio access node and the wireless device is part of an end-to-end communication path between the wireless device, as a first end-point of the end-to-end communication path, and a second end-point. The method further includes transmitting the bit rate associated with the radio bearer to the wireless device. By transmitting the bit rate associated with the radio bearer to the wireless device, the radio access node controls a bit rate for the end-to-end communication path between the wireless device and the second end-point.

Direct rate adaptation for an end-to-end communication path by a cellular network node

A method and system for configuring a service at a base station of a wireless communication network are disclosed. According to one aspect, a base station receives from a network node a service identifier that identifies a service to be provided via a plurality of bearers to a user equipment. The base station configures the plurality of bearers according to a service configuration associated with the service identifier.
