In the embodiments of this application, nodes in a blockchain are grouped in an order of attribute weights of the nodes, to obtain a plurality of node groups. A node group whose attribute weight meets a preset condition is selected from the plurality of node groups, to obtain a target node group, and a preset quantity of candidate consensus nodes are selected from the target node group. A non-candidate consensus node in the target node group is stored into an initial node group. The initial node group is used as a new target node group, and the operation of selecting a candidate consensus node from the target node group is performed. Candidate consensus nodes are broadcast to one or more second nodes in the blockchain for verification.
