A device may receive a packet associated with a flow and may identify a capacity indicator associated with a flow table. The capacity indicator may indicate an available storage capacity associated with the flow table. The flow table may be stored by another device and may include entries for one or more flows and one or more corresponding actions to be taken in association with the one or more flows. The device may determine a service indicator that indicates a priority associated with the flow and may compare the capacity indicator and the service indicator. The device may selectively provide a message to the other device based on comparing the capacity indicator and the service indicator. The message may include an instruction for the other device to store an entry, associated with the flow, in the flow table.

Managing flow table entries for express packet processing based on packet priority or quality of service

A computer-implemented method for preventing split-brain scenarios in high-availability clusters may include (1) detecting, at a first node of a high-availability cluster, a partitioning event that isolates the first node from a second node of the high-availability cluster, (2) broadcasting, from a health-status server and after the partitioning event has occurred, a cluster-health message to the first node that includes at least a health status of the second node that is based on whether the health-status server received a node-health message from the second node, and (3) reacting, at the first node and based at least in part on whether the first node received the cluster-health message, to the partitioning event such that the partitioning event does not result in a split-brain scenario within the high-availability cluster. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for preventing split-brain scenarios in high-availability clusters

In one example, a network device includes a network interface that receives a packet, a storage card that stores session data for monitored network sessions, a plurality of service processing cards that process packets of respective subsets of the network sessions, wherein each of the service processing cards comprises a respective memory to store session data for the respective subset of the network sessions processed by the corresponding service processing card, and a switch fabric coupled to the network interface, the storage card, and the plurality of service processing cards. One or more of the plurality of service cards process the received packet based on the session data stored by the storage card. The one or more of the plurality of service cards retrieve the session data for the network session to which the packet corresponds from the storage card and store the retrieved session data in the respective memory.
