Accordingly, embodiments of the present invention provide methods and devices for low power transmissions that provide improved wireless coverage for 6 GHz LPI transmissions using novel tone mapping techniques. Resource units (RUs) tones are distributed over larger bandwidths to achieve higher transmission power while operating within the PSD requirements of LPI. The tone distribution can include global tone mapping of smaller RUs distributed onto larger bandwidths, or group-based tone distribution methods, for example.

Embodiments of the present invention provide transmission schemes and methods that can assign multiple resource units (RUs) to a single wireless station using Aggregate Media Access Control Protocol Data Unit (A-MPDUs) in a flexible transmission scheme for the multi-RUs transmission. Embodiments of the present invention can send and receive data sing multiple resource units allocated to a single wireless STA. A 20 MHz segment and a 40 MHz segment on either side of a punctured portion of an 80 MHz segment can be treated as separate resource units (RUs), and the RUs can be assigned to the same wireless user/device. Each punctured 80 MHz segment can be interleaved separately. Different processes for encoding data and transmission schemes for transmitting the data are described herein according to embodiments of the present invention. Different transmission schemes can be used based on the size and number of the RUs allocated to an STA.

The apparatus then communicates with a communication entity using the dRU or the dMRU. In distributing the plurality of subcarriers of the RU to generate the dRU or the dMRU, the apparatus distributes the plurality of subcarriers of the RU with a predefined span over each 20 MHz frequency segment or subblock in the bandwidth and with a gap of at least a minimum size around a center direct-current (DC) tone in a distribution pattern of the plurality of subcarriers to result in reduction in a PAPR in communicating with the communication entity.

Systems and methods of transmitting and receiving a Wake-Up Radio (WUR) packet by using a simplified preamble structure that contains no training field. The preamble carries a signature sequence selected from a set of predefined sequences, each corresponding to a different data transmission rate. The preamble and the control information of the WUR packet are transmitted in the same rate as indicated by the selected sequence. Hence, a receiving WUR can determine the data transmission rate and locate the associated control information directly if a sequence that matches a predefined signature sequence is detected. The same sequence or in combination with an additional sequence in the preamble may also be used to indicate automatic gain control synchronization, packet type and other related information.
