Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and devices for enabling transmission of a pattern of pilots in a reference signal in which some of the pilot symbols are transmitted on established pilot sub-carriers and other pilot symbols are transmitted offset from the established pilot sub-carriers. This transmission pattern of pilots allows beneficial results such as 1) maintaining a low peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in the pilot symbols and 2) reducing resource usage for the pilot symbols as the pilot symbols have a shorter symbol length.

Methods and apparatus for using short reference symbols with a frequency domain offset

By defining more SCS options and Discrete Fourier Transform ('DFT') options for transmissions in future networks, there arises cause to select from among the options, with aspects of the channel as guidance for the selection. In addition, new CP designs may be defined for use with the new SCS options and the new DFT options along with methods of selecting a CP design appropriate to a particular situation. The new CP designs may be shown to have smaller CP overhead when compared to the known CP designs used for known combinations of an SCS option with an FFT size option. New sampling frequency design options and new system basic timing options may also be defined, along with methods of making appropriate selections from among these options. Control signaling using higher layers may be used to distribute configuration options that include multiple SCS options, CP duration options, sampling frequency options and DFT size options per sub-band. Later, layer 1 signaling may be used to specify a particular option from among the multiple options.

Mobility management in multi-tier wireless communication networks

A first user equipment (UE) is configured to receive from a base station a signaling comprising indication of one or more time-frequency resources and an indicator indicating a time gap, and transmit a transport block (TB) to a second UE using the one or more time-frequency resources. For each of the time-frequency resources, the first UE monitors a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback from the second UE, using a physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH) resource; and transmits to the base station a HARQ feedback report signal based on the HARQ feedback or absence thereof, in a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), using a single PUCCH resource determined based on the time gap from a last one of the PSFCH resources.

Devices and methods of signaling for resource selection and reservation in sidelink transmission

A reference sequence may be transmitted in wireless communication, e.g. in order to perform channel estimation. The use of a reference sequence introduces overhead. In some embodiments, the subcarrier spacing (SCS) of the multi-carrier symbols (e.g. OFDM symbols) used to transmit one or more reference sequences is different from the SCS of the multi-carrier symbols used to transmit information (e.g. data). In some embodiments, an original reference sequence may be spread over multiple multi-carrier symbols, with each multi-carrier symbol carrying a respective reference sequence that is a portion of the original reference sequence. The technical benefit is possibly improved channel estimation because the original reference sequence is spread in time, but with the same overhead (in terms of total occupied time of reference symbols) as transmitting all of the original reference sequence at the same time.

Flexible reference symbol pattern for wireless communication

The present disclosure provides detailed specifications related to user equipment (UE) aggregation. As an example, a virtual UE (VUE) configuration, also referred to as a configuration for UE aggregation, that can be used by multiple UEs participating in UE aggregation may be communicated in a wireless communication network. The configuration may indicate, for example, that the UEs are to participate in UE aggregation, and indicate a first UE for splitting or combining data. In some embodiments the configuration may indicate protocol stacks for the multiple UEs to participate in UE aggregation, and an anchor point. The anchor point is associated with a layer in the protocol stack of a first UE of the multiple UEs, and implements data splitting and/or aggregation. As an alternative to the specific example of an anchor point, a configuration may indicate a function for splitting or aggregating data.

Methods and apparatuses for user equipment aggregation

Current signaling structures in Long-Term Evolution and New Radio are not designed to accommodate flexible allocation of RF chains and/or antennas among radio access technologies (RATs) and/or between different transmission modes that support multiple transmissions/receptions/component carriers such as carrier aggregation, multiple-input multiple-output and/or multiple-transmit-receive point transmission/reception. Embodiments are disclosed in which an apparatus reports radio frequency (RF) capability information that supports such a flexible allocation of RF chains and/or antennas. In some embodiments, the RF capability information includes RF chain information indicating a number of RF chains operable in a first frequency range, and antenna information indicating, for each of a plurality of second frequency ranges within the first frequency range, a number of physical antennas operable within the corresponding second frequency range. A control signaling structure that supports flexible allocation of RF chains and/or antennas for a multi-RAT capable apparatus is also disclosed.

Methods and systems for physical layer network coding based on two-dimensional (2D) joint coding are described. In some methods, first and second packets are obtained. A set of one or more cross-packet check blocks is generated, where each cross-packet check block is generated based on a set of cross-packet bits including at least one bit from each of the first and second packets. At least one cross-packet check block is transmitted to a first communication node.

Methods and systems for network coding using cross-packet check blocks

The present disclosure relates to configurable modulation in wireless communications. Constellation set signaling and constellation selection signaling are communicated in a wireless communication network. The constellation set signaling is associated with modulation of data using each constellation in a constellation set that includes multiple constellations. The constellation selection signaling is indicative of one of the multiple constellations of the constellation set that is to be used in modulation of data for transmission in the wireless communication network. Data that is modulated using the one of the multiple constellations is also communicated in the wireless communication network.

Methods, apparatus, and systems for configureable modulation in wireless communications

Methods and apparatuses are described for cooperation of two or more devices to improve the transmissions over a Uu interface. A source receives or transmits an indicator indicating a first mode of two modes of cooperation between the source apparatus and at least a first cooperating device. The two modes of cooperation includes a joint communication mode and a relay mode of cooperation. If the first mode is the joint communication mode, at least a portion of the data, intended for the intended recipient, is transmitted to at least the first cooperating device to be further transmitted by the first cooperating device to the intended recipient. A same or different portion of the data is transmitted to the intended recipient or to a second cooperating device to be further transmitted by the second cooperating device to the intended recipient.

Method and apparatus for cooperation among devices in transmissions over a UU interface

Systems and methods are disclosed for providing H-ARQ transmissions in respect of a set of horizontal code blocks are combined in a code. Retransmissions contain vertical parity check blocks which are determined from verticals from the set of horizontal code blocks. Once all the vertical parity check blocks have been transmitted, a new set may be determined after performing interleaving upon either the content of the horizontal code blocks, in the case of non-systematic horizontal code blocks, or over the content of encoder input bits in the place of systematic horizontal code blocks. The interleaving may be bitwise or bit subset-wise. The retransmissions do not contain any of the original bits. In the decoder, soft decisions are produced, and nothing needs to be discarded; decoding will typically improve with each retransmission.

System and method for hybrid-ARQ

Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide a user equipment (UE) having active device components and passive device components. Responsive to receiving downlink (DL) transmissions in time division duplexing (TDD) mode, the active device components perform DL decoding while the passive device components perform passive transmission of ACK/NACK data. Such passive transmission may involve encoding the ACK/NACK data in an altered version of received radio frequency (RF) signals and using so-called backscatter communications to reflect the received RF signals, with alteration, using the same frequency resources used to receive the DL transmissions.

Low latency ACK/NACK transmission

Multiple communication paths are established for communications between a User Equipment (UE) and a wireless communication network, before switching between those paths is initiated. Signaling that includes an explicit indication that the UE is to switch between the multiple communication paths is transmitted to and received by at least the UE for which the multiple communication paths were established. Responsive to the explicit indication, communications are switched between the communication paths. At least one of the communication paths includes a relay path between the UE and the wireless communication network through another UE. Establishment of the multiple paths in advance of the switching may be useful in enabling fast switching with low latency and/or no traffic loss.

Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to the selection of a waveform for an integrated communications and sensing (ICS) signal, where the waveform is suitable for both communication applications and sensing applications. In view of the sensing applications, the waveform selection can be, at least in part, adapted based on capabilities of hardware of nodes involved in the sensing applications.
