Apparatus for welding

Systems and methods are disclosed that include an operation chamber, a plasma generator having at least one plasma head disposed within the operation chamber and in proximity to a profile formed by cutting a piece of tubing, and a mechanical motion module. The plasma generator generates a plasma treatment and applies the plasma treatment via the at least one plasma head to the profile to activate material on an end surface of the profile, within a lumen of the profile, or a combination thereof. Once the material of the profile is activated by the plasma treatment, the mechanical motion module manipulates the profile to close the lumen of the profile to aseptically seal the profile.

Dual cure compositions

The present disclosure relates to methods for preparing a hydrophilic composition including intimately mixing a silicone component including at least one polysiloxane and a polymer component, and to hydrophobic polymer compositions prepared thereby. One aspect of the disclosure provides an article having a major exterior surface, the article comprising an intimate mixture of a silicone component including at least one polysiloxane; and a polymer component including at least one hydrophilic polymer having a water-absorption capacity of at least 50 wt. %; wherein the silicone component and the polymer component are present in the mixture in a dry weight ratio within the range of 99.9:0.1 to 30:70. In certain desirable embodiments as otherwise described herein, the intimate mixture is disposed at an exterior surface of the article, e.g., at the major exterior surface of the article.

Hydrophilic polymer compositions

Tubular coupling

The present disclosure relates generally to photocurable compositions and methods for continuously forming a three-dimensional body from these compositions. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to photocurable compositions comprising a mixture of polysiloxanes capable of being dually cured, i.e., first by UV radiation followed by thermal treatment, or being cured by UV radiation. In one aspect, the disclosure provides a photocurable composition, including: a first polysiloxane comprising at least two acrylate or methacrylate groups per molecule; a second polysiloxane containing at least one (e.g., at least two) Si&#x2014;H group per molecule; a third polysiloxane containing at least one (e.g., at least two) reactive aliphatic ethylene group per molecule; a free radical photoinitiator in an amount of about 0.01 to about 10 weight % based on the total weight of (meth)acrylate-containing polysiloxane in the composition; and a hydrosilylation catalyst in an amount of about 0.001 to about 10 weight % hydride-containing polysiloxane and vinyl-containing polysiloxane in the composition.

Photocurable compositions and methods for 3D printing using them

A radiation curable article includes a silicone composition including a silicone oligomer and a photoactive catalyst, wherein the silicone oligomer comprises at least one alkenyl group and at least one hydride group, the radiation curable silicone oligomer having a viscosity of less than about 100,000 centipoise prior to cure. Further included is a method of forming a radiation curable article includes providing a silicone composition including a silicone oligomer and a photoactive catalyst, wherein the silicone oligomer includes at least one alkenyl group and at least one hydride group, the silicone oligomer having a viscosity of less than about 100,000 centipoise prior to cure; and irradiating the silicone composition with a radiation source.

Radiation curable article and method for making and using same

This disclosure relates to polymerizable silicone compositions, methods for polymerizing such compositions, and to polymerized silicone compositions formed thereby. In one embodiment, a polymerizable composition includes one or more first organosiloxanes or organosilanes, each comprising a plurality of silicon hydride functional groups, one or more second organosiloxanes or organosilanes, each comprising a plurality of reactive heterocycloalkyl functional groups; and one or more third organosiloxanes or organosilanes, each comprising at least about one silicon hydride functional group and at least about one reactive heterocycloalkyl functional group; one or more reactive organic compounds, each comprising at least about one reactive heterocycloalkyl functional group; and an effective amount of a borane catalyst, present, for example, in an amount within the range of 0.0005 wt % to about 10 wt %, wherein the ratio of reactive heterocycloalkyl functional groups to reactive silicon hydride functional groups in the composition is in the range of 1:5 to 5:1.

Heterochain polymer composition

This disclosure relates to polymerizable silicone compositions, methods for polymerizing such compositions, and to polymerized silicone compositions formed thereby. In one embodiment, a polymerizable composition includes one or more first organosiloxanes or organosilanes, each comprising a plurality of silicon hydride functional groups, one or more second organosiloxanes or organosilanes, each comprising a plurality of reactive heterocycloalkyl functional groups; and one or more third organosiloxanes or organosilanes, each comprising at least about one silicon hydride functional group and at least about one reactive heterocycloalkyl functional group; and an effective amount of a borane catalyst, present, for example, in an amount within the range of 0.0005 wt % to about 10 wt %, wherein the ratio of reactive heterocycloalkyl functional groups to reactive silicon hydride functional groups in the composition is in the range of 1:5 to 5:1. The compositions and methods are useful, for example, in adhesive and sealing applications.

Silicone compositions

A silicone-based composition includes a silicone polymer and at least one acid neutralizer, wherein the silicone-based composition has a pH of at least about 5 after at least one dose of irradiation, when measured by a pH meter.
