According to one aspect, a method of controlling a laser delivery control console is disclosed. The method may include receiving at the control console electronically stored information from a radio frequency identification tag associated with a medical device. The method may also include converting, using at least one processor of the control console, the electronically stored information to a plurality of operating parameter threshold values. The plurality of threshold values may include maximum frequency values and maximum energy values for laser energy supplied by the laser delivery control console to the medical device. The method may further include preventing, in response to a command to adjust the energy or frequency of laser energy applied to the medical device, the delivery of laser energy with a frequency or energy value that exceeds one or more of the threshold values.

Medical systems, devices, and related methods

A method of controlling a laser source to deliver laser energy through a medical device includes adjusting a laser source parameter including at least one of a laser power, a laser energy, a frequency, and a pulse width of the laser source. The laser source parameters are adjustable through a first action or series of actions on a foot pedal assembly operably coupled to a laser control unit. The method also includes activating the laser source. The activation of the laser source includes a second action or series of actions on the foot pedal assembly, and the second series of actions is different from the first action or actions.

One embodiment of an apparatus for capacitive sensing and capacitive measuring having a digital circuitry () which has a digital input port Pcommunicating with a capacitive sensing element (). A resistance element () forms an electrical pathway between the sensing element and a signal generator () by electrically communicating with both. The signal generator outputs adjustable singles to charge and discharge the sensing element. The voltage Vc of the sensing element at the input port Pwill cause logic level change between '1' and '0' inside the digital circuitry when passing through the logic threshold of the digital circuit. The digital circuitry measures the time between the logic level changes and the reference points of the signals, and then calculates the capacitance or the capacitance change. The digital circuitry can be a microcontroller and the signal source can be the microcontroller's output port. Other embodiments are described and shown.
