In accordance with aspects of the present invention, a first wireless power enabled device includes a transceiver and control logic. The transceiver includes a plurality of switches coupled in a full-bridge configuration with a resonant tank circuit. The control logic is configured to detect a presence of a second wireless power enabled device, establish a trusted relationship with the second wireless power enabled device, determine an operating mode of the first wireless power enabled device selected from a transmit mode or a receive mode, and drive the plurality of switches to operate the resonant tank circuit in the determined operating mode. The first wireless power enabled device may further include a memory that stores a copy of a first key associated with the first wireless power enabled device and a copy of a second key associated with the second wireless power enabled device.

Establishing trusted relationships for multimodal wireless power transfer

An electronic lock that interacts with a mobile device is presented. In accordance with some embodiments, an electronic lock includes a wireless power receiver configured to receiver power from a mobile device; a processor coupled to receive power from the wireless power receiver; a memory coupled to the processor and to receive power from the wireless power receiver; a communication unit coupled to the processor and to receive power from the wireless power receiver, the communication unit configured to communicate with the mobile device; and an actuator coupled to the processor and to receive power from the wireless power receiver. The processor executes instructions stored in a memory for authenticating the mobile device, and providing signals to the actuator according to instructions received from the mobile device once it is authenticated. The mobile device provides power to the electronic lock and instructs it to lock or unlock a locking mechanism.

A wireless power receiver may include a receive coil configured to generate an AC power signal responsive to wireless power transfer from a wireless power transmitter, and control logic configured to detect misalignment of the receive coil and a transmit coil of the wireless power transmitter responsive to a determination of efficiency of wireless power transfer therebetween. A method for operating a wireless power receiver may include detecting misalignment between a receive coil and a transmit coil of a wireless power transmitter responsive to detecting monitoring a value indicative of efficiency of wireless power transfer between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver, and causing an indication to be provided to a user to assist with correcting the misalignment.

High-Definition Multimedia Interface Specification, Version 1.2, supports multiple video formats. Currently the HDMI sources and sinks support multiple formats through reconfiguration of the system. The present invention describes the use of a configurable 'n'&#xd7;'n' data pixel mapping matrix for video format conversion. This mapping matrix allows the mapping of any existing video format to any other existing or future video format and allows flexibility of connectivity to any transmitter or receiver. The present invention provides a method and mechanism for adapting a single phase-locked loop (PLL) for a wider range of frequencies than has been possible with prior art solutions. An analog comparator circuit that senses the output of a charge pump and provides a signal to a digital control circuit to choose a suitable load circuit for the PLL voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The analog comparator with the digital control circuit changes the VCO loads to select the best VCO range to achieve the incoming signal frequency lock. A single PLL with the VCO load selection method disclosed, with use of built-in hysteresis, in addition to the phase and frequency feedback of the prior art, allows multiple overlapping frequency ranges to be covered in a stable fashion. This enables frequency locking of the PLL over a wide range of frequencies with a small die size and low power consumption.

Signaling and coding methods and apparatus for long-range 10 and 100 mbps Ethernet transmission. In accordance with the method, a physical layer (PHY) device is provided that includes the long-range capabilities. In operation, the PHY measures the distance to a companion PHY, and if it is within the specification limits, communicates with the companion device in the normal way. If the distance is above the specification limits, the PHY checks to see if the companion PHY is similarly enabled, and if so, switches to a long-range signaling method. In a preferred embodiment, NRZ coding with pre-emphasis on the first bit of two or more bits of the same value is used for a first range exceeding the specification limit, and PAM4 coding is used for a second range exceeding the first range. Various embodiments are disclosed.
